Why pay full-price for fabric refresher in the store when you can make it for pennies at home? I found a recipe for it that smells amazing and it is so simple to make that it will blow your mind! I was thinking that there had to be a trick as to why it was so easy, but, no, there’s not.
No tricks at all! Inexpensive DIY recipe!
There are a lot of new products out there on the shelves of our stores that make our homes smell good that can be used for more than the purpose they are marketed for. We just have to open our minds to what they can be. For example, those little scent beads that are marketed for putting in the laundry CAN be used to make our home smell amazing too!
Let’s take them and turn it into Fabric Refresher for your home, for pennies and save yourself TONS of money each year. Think about this: a bottle of laundry beads costs, approximately, $4.50 in the store AND you’re only going to use 1/4 cup to make a whole bottle of fabric refresher. ONE bottle of the laundry scent will make almost 7-8 bottles of fabric refresher! That’s about SIXTY-FIVE CENTS PER BOTTLE!!!! How much are you currently paying for each bottle of household fabric refresher spray?
The only other ingredients that you need is rubbing alcohol and water from your tap. The bottle is something that you can either purchase or you can recycle from a similar product that you’ve already used.
How simple can this be? I mean, who doesn’t want to save money? If you already use these little beads in your laundry, try this recipe out. If you hate it, no harm done, you’re out, what a few pennies? If you love it, think of the money you’ll save — upwards of $50 a year!
Here’s how you do it:
You take a 1/4 cup of the beads and put them in a bowl (or if you have a funnel, put them in the bottle you’re going to use)
Add 2 capfuls of the rubbing alcohol to the beads
Fill the bottle that you’re going to use with HOT water and add that to your mixture.
Either shake it up (if in a bottle) or mix with a spoon (if in a bowl). I like to mix with a spoon until it is dissolved. Once dissolved, use on your soft fabrics such as curtains and couches. Your home will smell fresh as daisies.
In all seriousness, if you can save some money, little things like making your own fabric refresher helps. It is so easy and only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish including dissolving time. Give it a try and tell me what you think in the comments below!
