The Polar Express is a fun and loving story about a young boy who believed in the miracle of Christmas. He journeyed to the North Pole on a train, one cold Christmas Eve with other children to meet Santa Clause. He was chosen to be given the first gift of Christmas, any gift his heart desired. He chose a silver bell off of one of Santa’s beloved reindeer.
Unfortunately, he lost his bell before he got home. When he awoken the next morning, the little bell was under his tree. Because he and his sister believed in Santa, they heard the bell ring while their parents did not. As they grew up, he realized that more and more people didn’t hear the bell ring…
“HMH [Houghton Mifflin Harcourt] will mark this milestone publishing even with an extensive social media book donation campaign. Every time the hashtag #readandbelieve is used on various platforms, a copy of The Polar Express will be donated to the Christmas in the City, a Boston-based nonprofit helping families in need. Readers and fans can help share quotes from the book, holiday wishes, or family traditions and the like.”
This story is about the miracle of Christmas and the belief that children have in it. This book is beautifully written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg. This is the 30th Anniversary edition, with a new book jacket, a keepsake golden ornament and a downloadable audio read by Liam Neeson.
The Polar Express is not only a book, published originally in 1985, it was transformed into a huge movie in 2004, staring Tom Hanks in the voice roll of the Conductor. Many schools put on The Polar Express for their yearly Christmas Pageants, and there are train rides around the country.
This 30th edition is beautifully packaged. It’s a timeless story that my family enjoys year after year, however, when this book arrived, we all gathered around to look for the familiar scenes and the new additions to the book jacket. The brass toned ornament is lovely and we can’t wait to add it to our tree this year. What a wonderful gift for new parents or families who do not already own this story. This story has already stood the test of time through print and movie, now have a listen as Mr. Liam Neeson narrates this story to your loved ones.
