My little ones really enjoy dress-up clothes. My five year-old who has autism often will refuse to wear anything other than his dress-up attire. It isn’t uncommon for us to be seen in the grocery store with some portion of his pirate costume on. A few months ago he fell in love with capes and was asking us to make them out of anything he could find. Nothing we made ourselves was meeting his satisfaction so I asked him to take a look at the options available form Great Pretenders. We selected the Colour A Costume-Spider Superhero because it was different than any other cape we had seen before.
About the Colour A Costume: It’s Reversible. It’s Spider/Action themed. AND it’s an activity you can colur in yourself? Yup- It’s the Colour Me Cape – Spider Super Hero set! The satin side features a printed red satin with spiderweb detailing, but the colouring side is even more fun! With villans and cityscapes, and heros… this new artistry is sure to delight!
Reversible Colour Me Cape with red/black spiderweb printed satin on one side, and black & white adventure waiting to be coloured in on the reverse side. Comes with 8 permanent, water based colour markers.
When it arrived and we realized the markers were permanent, I asked my oldest daughter (the artsy one) to do her very best with his cape. She decorated it before he had a chance to see it because I wanted him to be even more surprised.
The markers are high quality. None of the markers ran out or had any signs of drying out before completing the cape. We still use them on other projects now that this one is complete.
My daughter opted for a partial color instead of a full coloring of the cape. I really like what she did and so did my son.
He was thrilled when he saw his cape for the first time. *Please don’t let his indifferent face in the photos confuse you – he wasn’t happy that I required he wear clothing in order to take the photos with the cape. He also doesn’t give the camera eye contact intentionally.
Baby Girl also enjoys pretend play outfits. She picked the Under the Sea Skirt and Top from Great Pretenders because she is a BIG fan of mermaids. When this outfit arrived she wore it for a week non-stop. I had to take it off of her and hand wash it while she was sleeping and unaware. I have never seen a child refuse to take off a costume before – not several days in a row anyway.
About the Under the Sea Skirt & Top: You will be the cutest little Mermaid that ever swam the deep blue sea. The skirt has a velcro closure to fit a range of sizes. The electric blue coloured fins add flair to undersea life and guarantee you will be the talk of the ocean with the other fishies.
2 pc Mermaid set. Top and separate velcro closure skirt fits a range of sizes. Top is made from a stretchy sequin elastic base. Material: 100% Polyester
Her favorite feature of the dress is the tail. She really loves that it is longer and trails behind her when she walks.
Even after daily wear and regular hand washes, the mermaid skirt and top still look great. The colors are vibrant and the material remains shimmery.
After her brother dropped the cape she grabbed it, requested help putting it on, and ran with it. Who says you can’t be a super hero mermaid?
