Is Your Skin Ready for Summer?

August 6, 2015 by Pam Maynard

Here are a few tips to make sure you skin is prepared for SUMMER!

Summer is here, and if you’re like most people that means hitting the beach and showing off the body you work hard for. Even if you don’t hit the gym that much, the beach can still be a lot of fun in the summer months and a great way to beat the heat.

However, if you’re feeling like your skin tone just isn’t quite right for that bikini or bathing suit you’re definitely not alone. While you may get a little color over the summer, you know that the sun isn’t good for you and your skin, and that natural tanning can lead to serious health problems like skin cancer down the road.

This year, make sure your skin is ready for summer and you’re healthy. You’ll have more fun and you’ll face fewer skin problems down the road.

Buy High Quality Sunscreen

A lot of the sunscreen that you’re going to find near the beach is going to be the cheap stuff. Sure, it will keep you from getting a sunburn, but there are definitely better alternatives out there for you to use, especially if you’re sharing with young kids or older family members.

When you’re shopping for sunscreen you wide broad spectrum SPF protection, meaning the sunscreen protects from both UVA and UVB rays. Only one type will give you a visible and painful sunburn, but both UVA and UVB rays can damage your skin over time.

You should also look for sunscreen that’s at least SPF 30. In general, the sunscreens with high numbers attached aren’t much better and simply reapplying your sunscreen more is the only protection you need. Ideally you should reapply sunscreen every 90 minutes or after swimming or perspiring heavily.

Get a Spray Tan

Most people enjoy a healthy glow when they go to the beach, but the truth is that that glow may not be as healthy as people once thought it was. In fact, your healthy glow may actually be a sign that your skin is getting too much exposure to the sun and you could be facing skin problems eventually.

Instead of damaging your skin, get a spray tan. You’ll still have that golden color you want but without the prolonged exposure to the dangerous sun. You can find wonderful spray tan deals in Sydney over the summer, so there’s no reason not to at least see how you feel after getting one.
