How we are editing our photos has changed so much over the past five years. Years ago, I was completely thrilled with the photo editing software at my local pharmacy. I could remove red-eye and make my photos black and white… what more could you ask for?
Well, that was before apps were created to make editing an easy process to complete – at home – with no training required! Apps like Fotor are making everyday moms graphic designers of their family photo album! Fotor is available via the Google Play or iOS Store and online AND IS FREE!
I started out by playing with my Fotor application on my phone before moving onward to the online computer version. With the app, editing photos is really easy – the filters available can transform an ordinary sunset into a spectacular photo, as shown below.
I took the next photo with my cell phone a few weeks ago, and I was SUPER disappointed with it. I was bummed because the view I was looking at was so spectacular and my phone wouldn’t capture it… at all.
When I added the photo to Fotor I was thrilled to see the results. My dull and boring photo was transformed into a bright and vibrant display of the lake and snow-topped mountains. I now have a photo I am pleased with instead of a photo I look at wishing I had brought my camera with me to take a better one.
I quickly captured Baby Boy this week during and after his nap. As bright as my bedroom is, my phone, again, didn’t capture him in the same light as I was seeing him. The Fotor app allowed me to brighten up the picture so we can see him better.
Making a Collage with the Fotor application is easy. I like the app because I am always wanting to collage photos for Instagram, but I haven’t been in love with the collage apps I have found in the Google Play store. The collage below also shows you the various “effects” you can use to change the appearance of a photo. Fotor offers so many filter effects that I used a different one for each photo in the collage and I didn’t use them all!
The blue boarder was chosen from the “funky” pattern collage design.
Stickers are really cute and fun to decorate with. The following is a quick creation I made for you to give you an idea of what a “sticker” is. This photo was created in the Collage setting. I chose “canvas” and used a star “Pattern”. Next I dragged the photo to the canvas, added a simple boarder to make it stand out, and rotated it slightly with a dragging-style tool. Finally I added stickers from the “celebration” category and added in the celebrate text. [Collage –> Canvas–>Pattern; added photo with a boarder; added stickers on top]
Drum Roll Please!!!! My favorite feature of Fotor online is the ability to make photos into magazine covers or posters. This is truly making something spectacular out of the ordinary and allowing ANYONE to have graphic designer quality editing performed on their photos! My biggest struggle was trying to decide what layout I liked best because they have bunches, upon bunches, of options for their magazine design. Check this out yourself. I could stay online at Fotor playing with their magazines for hours! (It is 2 am and that is exactly what I’m doing right now!)
Pros and Cons:
The app is limited with what you can do without paying for more options. For simple editing and collage making, the app worked well. I like being able to edit my photos before I add them Instagram, but I wish I could do more with it without paying for upgrades.
I thought the app was a great app until I used Fotor online….the online version is Ahh-Mazing! They have stickers galore and so many starters for personalized projects with the magazine layouts and even cards! Online editing is a little slow and there area few minor bugs but nothing overwhelming. Stop by Fotor and take a look for yourself. Create a cute magazine cover and tell me all about it!
