Monkey Kingdom is like a unit study brought to life. Even greater, Disney Nature is providing educators and families with a unit study to use along with watching the film. The two combined will make you a Toque Macaques expert… okay, so you might not be an expert but you will know a whole lot!
In the unit studies you will find below you will have the opportunity to teach/learn about the toque macaques monkeys, the island of Sri Lanka, how the fig tree is much more important than you could have ever thought, how termites can be beneficial to ecosystems (yes, I said beneficial), and what biodiversity truly means. This is just a small fraction of what you will learn in these guides – there is so much more but the only way you can really see for yourself is to download them and take a look. For my homeschooling family, the educator’s packet and family pack contain enough information and lessons to contribute to a large portion of our schooling for almost two weeks!
Disney Nature’s Monkey Kingdom Educators Packet
The colorful Educator’s Packet contains 74 pages with 8 lessons. Each lesson contains a themed lesson, vocabulary words, links to additional resources, and an activity. (See the photo below to view the table of contents). I recommend teachers download this packet to their computer/tablet and then only print the black & white pages they intend to use. Disney Nature’s Monkey Kingdom Family Packet
The family packet is 23 pages. Much of what is included is also found inside of the Educator’s Packet, HOWEVER, there are a few activity pages contained in this packet that aren’t included in the teacher pack. Make sure you take a look at the Crossword Puzzle, Word Search, Monkey Mask, and Conservation Dreamcatcher only found in the family pack!
