Somewhere in the middle of baby number five and six, I said “enough” to jeans. I grew tired of jeans that are tighter than Elizabeth Swann’s dress in the morning, but fall to the floor while I’m cooking dinner. Jeans that need hemming because I’m average height, with average legs, but for some reason can’t find a pair of jeans with a true average inseam. I felt like every pair of jeans I tried, and even owned, were tall jeans for women from NYDJ instead of what I needed.
Near the end, I found myself trying on more than thirty pairs of jeans in the store and not walking out with any of them! None! Do you know what that can do to a person? Thirty pairs of jeans were too tight, too small, too big, ugly pockets, big flare, too tight around the ankles, too long, too short, too stretchy, not stretchy enough… I could go on, but you get the point. I left the store empty-handed and returned to my husband who felt horrible for me. I grabbed a set of ponte leggings and that was it.

I miss wearing denim jeans because I was a true jeans lover. If I could find a pair that I don’t feel horrible in, stays in place all day, and doesn’t drag below my shoes – I’d toss my leggings to the side in a heartbeat!
There is a rumor that the perfect pair of jeans for women like me are out there. There is about an inch difference between regular, plus, and petite sizes at NYDJ. Yes, that is THREE different waist and hip combinations for each size they offer between 0-18. (If you need a size above 18, they only offer plus combos.) Are you ready for the kicker? Probably pretty good.
