My Data Manager Now Available for Shared Plans! #MyDataManager

In all of my years of being a mobile user, I don’t think I have ever avoided the dreadful “Overage Notice”.  I take that back, since I started sharing my mobile plan with teenagers, I haven’t avoided the overage notice.  When we added our little sister to our plan a few years ago I knew she would need to be cautious of the amount she used, but I had no idea I would need to keep track too.  That wasn’t part of the deal!

My first reaction was to increase our plan. So I tried that, and it didn’t work. We used the maximum amount no matter how much data we had.  It seemed like the more we had, the more we used until our overage notice came through. Something had to give.

My Data Manager Now Available for Shared Plans!

My Data Manager is a free app allows users of Apple and Android devices to track and manage data consumption and rely on alerts and notifications to help avoid expensive overage charges.  With the shared plan functionality update, My Data Manager will allow those who are part of a family, group or shared plan to create a group within the app and link their usage.  This will create an accurate and collective view of data usage across the entire group that is easily accessible. Additionally, users will have the unique ability to select the right-size data plans by accessing the app’s historical data.

Setup is Easy:

Setting up and using My Data Manager is as easy as installing the app, setting up your account by following the prompts, and sharing with your family.  Easy peasy!

Alarms you can count on:

My favorite feature is the My Data Manager Alarms.  Without these settings, I don’t believe the app would be as effective. My family needs more than passive monitoring – we need alarms to let us know when we need to stop!

Alarms alert you when you’ve used the configured amounts of data to help ensure you don’t go over your mobile data limit.

For example, if you have a 500MB plan you could set the following alarms:

  • Alarm #1 for 250MB so that you know when you are half way through your usage
  • Alarm #2 450MB so that you would be notified when you’re almost at your plan limit

The Daily Alarm will let you know when you’ve used the configured amount each day.

My Data Manager provides visibility into mobile data usage across all networks including LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and roaming.  Families no longer need to guess and tally up their data usage.  My Data Manger allows families to make informed decisions regarding their mobile plan and insure everyone is abiding by their limits.

More information about My Data Manager can be found HERE and is available for free at the Apple App Store and at Google Play.
