My son has been asking for a keyboard EVERY Christmas (so he says, I never saw it on his list.)
Justin’s favorite features:
- You are able to remix your voice. Believe me, boys love to make their voices sound as strange as possible. I guess that happens when their voice starts changing anyway.
- He loves the sampling DEMO songs. These are a real confidence booster. He can make the DEMO songs his own with just a few buttons.
- It has a built in microphone. Justin really hates to wear ear buds or over-ear microphones. This is a great feature. It picks up his voice with great clarity too!
- You can add you remix voice to a sampler DEMO song,
- it’s small enough to be portable but big enough to give you a great range of notes! Big things DO come in small packages.
My Favorite Features:
OK, I know what you are all thinking. Getting a keyboard for an 11 year-old is a bad idea. But wait- this Casio 2400 keyboard has a headphone jack. I don’t have to listen to any of his noise/music unless I ask him to play me something. He stays in his room for hours making up sound effects for his you tube movies. The only time when I hear it is when he has friends over and they take out the headphones so they can all hear it. We are actually setting up some spooky sound effects for his Halloween party this weekend! Should be fun. The best part is, I didn’t have to do anything. He figured it all out on his own!
Another great feature is the size. It’s portable so he can bring it with him to friend’s house or with us on a trip to visit his cousins. Again, he can even play it in the car when he uses his headphones! For a portable keyboard, this CTK-2400 makes amazing music.
The Song Bank is a great feature. I love that anyone can use this song bank to create a new twist on an old song like Silent Night.
The CTK-2400 has an impressive library of 110 built-in songs. Whether you are using the songs to learn with the Step Up Lesson system, or playing along with a song for fun, you will find greater choices to meet your needs. Compare the number of songs to other manufacturers and you will see Casio has the better value.
Do you know what Polyphony is? It’s the number of notes or voices that can be played simultaneously without loss.
Casio’s CTK-2400 offers 48 notes of polyphony so you don’t have to worry about dropping notes. Using the sustain pedal for multiple notes, playing big chords, adding rhythms and layering sounds can deplete the polyphony memory quickly resulting in dropped notes. When searching for a keyboard, take the amount of polyphony into consideration.
Don’t forget the 2400 is USB compatible:
Casio continues the tradition or providing “class compliant” USB connectivity on Portable digital pianos. This allows Casio Portable digital pianos to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need for downloading drivers. Class Compliant USB MIDI also allows Casio digital pianos to be used as a controller with the Apple iPad simply with the use of Apple’s Camera Connection Kit.
Overall, Justin and I highly recommend the Casio CTK-2400 for any music lover of any age. It would make a great Christmas present for almost anyone! We love how portable it is but it sounds like a full-sized keyboard. It has so many options to use, it will amaze you! It also keeps kids busy and being constructive at the same time. Don’t forget, it has headphone adapter so the WHOLE house doesn’t have to listen to the same song 20 times in a row.
