I remember when the smart phone headsets first came out a little over eight years ago now – I hated them. Vowed I wouldn’t walk around looking like a robot. I complained that they were too bulky and disrespectful because I could no longer tell if people were talking to me or talking to their phone. Nine years later, I am taking the plunge and trying out the Jabra Stealth because I just can’t muliti-task when I am stuck to a phone anymore! Even using the speaker function, you have to be close to it. The Stealth lets you get all those mommy jobs done without worrying about where the phone is or dropping it accidentally… so yes, I gave in! But I held out pretty great for the past nine years!
All joking aside, one of the main reasons I have considered the Jabra Stealth is because we can’t keep ignoring radiation exposure with cell phones. For years, studies have proven that we should be concerned about the risks involved with exposure to radiation when using cell phones, and we have all ignored them.
New survey results*, sponsored by Jabra, a world leader in innovative hands-free solutions, show that despite the potential risk, people are not concerned with radiation in their daily lives. Twenty five percent of survey respondents said that radiation doesn’t concern them at all and sixty one percent said that it concerns them a little bit or to some extent. However, when informed that it is a scientific fact that using a Bluetooth™ (wireless) headset actually reduces exposure to phone radiation, 53% said they would use a hands-free device.
In a discussion with Victoria regarding this article, I learned that many countries have outlawed cellphone use for children because the radiation effects are so great. The American Trial Lawyer Magazine posted an article several years ago detailing how far radiation travels from one side of the head to the other when children and adults hold a cell phone to their ears. Their article showed brain scans where radiation traveled from one ear clear to the next on a ten year old child! No! That cannot be safe! We need to explore other options for our ourselves and our children!
Using a hands-free device can reduce the exposure to radiation by a factor of eight hundred, drastically lowering the exposure from max 2 watts from cell phones to 0.0025 watts max output for Bluetooth™ hands-free devices and zero watts for corded devices.
So, I bit the bullet and I finally started walking around like a robot. The great thing is, the Stealth is so small and slender, I don’t even notice it. I don’t feel like a robot and I definitely don’t look like one! It comes with different sized eargels so you can get the perfect fit. I don’t like things in my ear, but the Stealth is so small and light, you don’t even notice it after the first few minutes – I am really getting the hang of this thing and I feel so much better about using it too.
