I received this Drift Light smart bulb by Saffron, an innovative new light bulb that mimics the setting sun and provides a more natural way for children to fall asleep without the hassle of an app or complicated home-automation system. It is an amazing invention that I could have used years ago for my son who HAD to have the nightlight on every night. He actually has a Himalayan salt lamp that “helps him sleep better.” This is a perfect baby shower gift- it definitely would be the most unique but also the most used gift!
So, I decided to try it in our bedroom. We have a lamp above the headboard that I tend to leave on and forget to turn off if I’m the last one in bed. We installed the Drift light and so far, I haven’t managed to stay awake the whole 37 minutes it takes to dim to off. Obviously, It works on adults too! How many of us toss and turn at night and can’t shut off our brains? With this self dimming sleep bulb,
About the Drift Light:
Before electric lighting, people’s lives revolved around the natural light cycle of the sun. The rise of electric lighting and electronics means we don’t have to depend on the sun for light, but this new lifestyle also means our bodies aren’t able to prepare for sleep like they used to.
BUT- sleep matters!
What happens while you sleep has a huge impact on your life. People who don’t get enough sleep have problems making decisions, solving problems, being productive, controlling their emotions, and coping with change. They are also at greater risk of major health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
A microprocessor does all the work Users screw the bulb into a standard light socket, set it to sunset mode by simply flipping the switch twice and the light will slowly fade to dark over a 37-minute period, the same as the setting sun. The bulb emits a warm light to promote the production of melatonin, the body’s natural sleep agent. This improves the quality of sleep for children having trouble going to bed or anyone who has difficulty falling asleep at night.
Why 37 minutes:
37 minutes is the average duration of a sunset. It gives your body the gradual shift from light to darkness that your body needs in order to prepare for sleep.
Be sure your lamp or light fixture is run by a wall switch. Once you install the bulb, to use it as daylight, just turn the switch on. To use midnight setting, turn the light switch on and off 2 times- this will allow it to dim to midnight in 37 minutes. To use moonlight mode, Turn the switch on and off 3 times and it will dim to low in 37 minutes. The moonlight mode is perfect for babies and toddlers to get them used to a light cycle.
Sleep makes everyone happier and healthier. If you have a child that just cant sleep without a night light, you need to try a Drift Light!
