Last month my family hit the road in the search of something new in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Choice Hotels graciously provided lodging for our family of seven and two dogs at their Comfort Inn in Milton Florida location. On our way to the hotel our youngest son grew ill and was taken to the emergency room. The hospital almost admitted him but he was able to retain enough fluids for them to let him go after over six hours of iv fluid and observation. My husband and oldest children spent those six hours waiting outside of the hospital tending to our two pets and our two year old daughter! By the time we arrived at the Comfort Inn, EVERYONE in our family was exhausted! It was wonderful to arrive to a beautiful snack and gift basket. Being as our options for grabbing dinner nearby was limited- that basket was a life saver!
We all hit the beds that first night. I felt horrible, my baby was sick, and my bigger bunch was exhausted. The beds felt AMAZING and we were all sound asleep before eight o’clock AND even slept straight through breakfast the next morning… well, almost. We had ten minutes to spare so the kids ran down to the lobby. The hotel staff was gracious enough to allow my kiddos to sneak in a little breakfast before they closed for the morning. (I was even able to grab a cup of juice, banana, and some yogurt.) They were so wonderful, I made sure to set an alarm the next morning so no one would be waiting on us again.
That afternoon we continued to veg out in our room. Everyone was still a little weak from the day before and really didn’t want to be pealed off the beds – they were heavenly! Nothing says “comfort” better than fluffy clean beds with pillow tops and comforters.
Housekeeping:
The housekeeping department at the Milton Florida Comfort Inn was friendly and wonderful. Our room was well maintained and they were helpful even when daily service wasn’t requested due to our pets. On day two we were able to schedule our time out to take the dogs for a walk while they quickly tidied up the room for us. By the time we returned, our bathroom looked like we first arrived, our room was vacuumed, and our supplies were restocked. If I were using with a star rating, they would receive a perfect score!
The Pool and Grounds:
My bunch enjoyed the pool greatly. The atmosphere at the pool was pleasing and the pool appeared clean. Additional towels were provided directly on site and their was plenty of shade provided by table umbrellas. I observed the property manager preparing this area each morning directly after breakfast – she was very particular about the appearance of the hotel and made sure everyone felt welcome and all of the amenities were enjoyed by guests.
Each afternoon the pool was filled with guests. As a Floridian, this is a great sign. I am always concerned when a pool is going unused on a hot day. It makes me curious as to why it is going untouched.
Travel Tip: When traveling in Florida, if the weather permits, someone should be in the pool each day. Always be concerned if the pool remains untouched.
Our pets enjoyed the grounds greatly. The large property area allowed for them plenty of space to walk and even grass to lay in! Our tripod didn’t want to leave a grassy area under a large shade tree. Each time she entered the area she would plop down excitedly and refuse to move… I do mean, refuse! I was pretty thankful that a picnic table was provided nearby so I could have a rest while my stubborn pup could enjoy laying the grass for a few extra moments.
Free Continental Breakfast:
The free continental breakfast provided was one of our favorite. All of the food was fresh and the hot options were placed in a heating station that worked properly. New hot foods were provided each day for a little variety. My kids loved the breakfast so much I wondered if they were eating their weight in food some mornings!
My youngest son isn’t a fan of dining out and doesn’t generally do well with it in the early mornings. He did rather well in the breakfast room most days. On the days he didn’t enjoy the company of strangers, we were able to take our breakfast back to our room instead. It was pleasing to know we were able to have that option without feeling as though we were breaking an unwritten rule against it.
Management:
I was greatly impressed with the manager. She was polite and paid special attention to detail. Her guest’s satisfaction is top priority and she goes out of her way to be sure they have a pleasant experience. Each week she hosts a manager’s meeting with snacks and refreshments provided to the guests. She receives their feedback and learns more about how she can better her facility this way. I wasn’t able to attend during my stay but I think it was a fabulous idea and I could tell by the smiling guests walking down the hall with their treats that they loved it too!
During our discussions I also learned that they would be hosting the local public service/first responders for a breakfast. (How awesome is that?) She even tried out a few new recipes on the guests to see how the officers would like the meal offered! ~ She deserves Manager of the Year for Choice Hotels!!!
Overview:
Our stay at the Comfort Inn, Milton, Florida, Choice Hotels location was very relaxing. Everything was clean and in working order. The bedding was comfortable and the staff was friendly. We couldn’t have asked for more during our stay… except maybe, to stay longer!
My only complaint, the pet fee is a high – $20 per night! AND I have noted that they now have a weight limit of 25 lbs. We would be unable to stay at this hotel now that the weight limit has been added. I am very sad to see this happen.
Please visit Choice Hotels online or via their app to schedule your next stay in the Pensacola area at Comfort Inn in Milton, Florida. It is a few minutes away from town but well worth the drive. The Navarre Beach is just over twenty minutes away and it is our favorite in the area.
