Saying that “moving on takes some time” is an understatement. However, it doesn’t mean you have to stay afloat in the middle of nowhere. The way to help yourself get over a heartbreak is to focus on yourself. It’s as simple as shopping for new dresses and gladiator boots, to weekly spa treatments to the more serious task of taking a Master’s degree. We’re teaching you how to help yourself move on quickly while keeping that glamorous look all at the same time.
1.Allow yourself to spend hours in retail therapy. Shopping is definitely cheaper than taking regular visits to a therapist or psychiatrist who will just tell you what you should be doing, even if you already knew that by heart. Pick a pair of sexy gladiator boots, a new bodycon dress to pair up with that, and a new Prada handbag your ex-boyfriend can’t afford to give you. It’s all about you girl, so grab whatever your heart desires. Just remember to be a responsible shopper.
2. Make frequent visits to the gym. When you were in a relationship, you didn’t care about the extra pounds you’ve gained because you enjoyed dining out with your man. He’s been telling you that you look great and he didn’t not notice a single pound in your thighs, not knowing in a few months he’ll be dumping you for a girl who’s half your size. Hit the gym to get yourself fit once more. Enroll in a boxing class and imagine yourself hitting your ex-boyfriend. Calm your nerves through yoga or strengthen those abs with pilates.
3. Visit the spa regularly. Spa treatments can be costly but since you’re a newly-single individual, you’ll have extra money to pamper yourself. Spa treatments vary from hair, to face, to body. Even during medieval times, Greek and Romans enjoy body massages and only royalty can afford those kinds of treatments. When you go to the spa, ask what kind of treatments they offer. Go for facial ones when you have acne or skin aging problems. Problem with rough feet? Slough off those dead skin cells through foot scrub. And when you feel stressful, get a full body massage in an aromatherapy session.
4. Travel big time. Sometimes, all you need is one life-changing getaway to get your life straight once more. A sudden breakup can cause your whole life plan to shatter, not knowing where to go or how to start. Immerse yourself in new cultures. Travel to Mongolia, experience exotic cuisine in Thailand, or find love again in France.
5. Take that Master’s degree you’ve been delaying to take. Some women are hesitant to pursue further education when they are ina relationship. That’s because you need to invest time in your studies, which means less time for your man. Now that he’s not in your life anymore, you deserve to further improve yourself through studying. Not only will it take your mind away from sad thoughts and torturing memories but will also improve your career and give you self-fulfillment.
