Do your children need a little help getting excited for the Easter Bunny? My buddy Peep can help you with that!
First of all, I want to re-visit the story behind the Easter bunny!
Easter Bunny
The Bible makes no mention of a long-eared, short-tailed creature who delivers decorated eggs to well-behaved children on Easter Sunday; nevertheless, the Easter bunny has become a prominent symbol of Christianity’s most important holiday. The exact origins of this mythical mammal are unclear, but rabbits, known to be prolific procreators, are an ancient symbol of fertility and new life. According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws.” Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs. Eventually, the custom spread across the U.S. and the fabled rabbit’s Easter morning deliveries expanded to include chocolate and other types of candy and gifts, while decorated baskets replaced nests. Additionally, children often left out carrots for the bunny in case he got hungry from all his hopping.
Now that we have been educated about the Origins of the Easter Bunny, it’s time to see where Peep fits into this whole story.
“The flowers were budding, the grass emerged from snow, and winter was finally coming to a close.
All of the kids played outside once more, while thoughts of spring-time chores went right out the door.
Meanwhile, back in Bethlehem, PA, the Easter Bunny was becoming busier by the day.
But today was one of the most important of them all, as the PEEPS® gathered ‘round, some stout and some tall.
They met to discuss their mission this year, a big responsibility which was sure to bring cheer.
The messenger PEEPS® assured they were ready to go, and off they travelled to various homes.
The PEEPS® were ready to watch over kids everywhere and report back whether each child had earned their Easter basket share.
And for all the young boys and girls who do behave, their PEEPS® will ensure their baskets are filled with the marshmallow treats they crave.”
Peeps are super cute, super quiet and perfect “spies” for the Easter Bunny. Do you children behave better around Christmastime? Is it because they know that “Santa is Watching” everything they do? Well my fuzzy friend Peep, can watch your children too. This is how PEEPS® in a Basket has gotten everyone excited for Easter!
No matter how old your children get, they always love a scavenger hunt. In order to help my son get excited for the Easter Bunny, we play Hide Peep every morning before school. I will hide Peep, somewhere different each morning. My son actually gets up before his alarm goes off so he can find Peep before School. Luckily, I always tell my hubby where Peep is so Peep doesn’t make him late for school.
Not only does Peep do an amazing job at hiding every day, but he also check to make sure that chores get done. Here is Peep checking out the Guinea Pig cage. Did my son give them food and fresh water today? If Peep finds out that some chores are left undone, he has to report back to the Easter Bunny. Needless to say, not many chores have been left undone this last week! PEEPS® in a Basket won’t be as plentiful when children don’t do their chores!
We have big plans for Peep on Easter morning. Peep is going to hide clues as well as help the Easter Bunny hide eggs. Shh, don’t tell my son, it’s going to be a fun surprise!
Happy Easter everyone! Be sure you get your own PEEPS® in a Basket for more Easter Fun!! What Easter Tradition would you start with PEEPS® in a Basket? Get your PEEPS at Amazon today.
