Clean And Sanitize Your Make-up Tools To Cure Acne

March 10, 2014 by Pam Maynard

Make-up is part of a woman’s daily beauty routines. Women wear make-up for different reasons – to hide imperfections and thus feel more comfortable in their skin or to highlight their favourite areas on the face, such as eyes or lips. To apply their make-up, women use many different tools, which have to be taken good care of and cleaned regularly, so that they don’t irritate the skin or cause infections. A very unpleasant skin problem is acne. It is an issue for mostly teenagers, however, adolescents can have this problem as well. People who suffer from acne have to make sure they regularly provide their skin with extra care. A step forward in the battle against acne is to make sure your make-up tools are always clean and sanitised. Here are our tips on how to disinfect your tools properly, so that you help your skin rather than irritate it.

Why Clean Your Make-Up Tools

It is important to sanitise your make-up tools since they collect a lot of bacteria that can affect your skin negatively and help the forming of acne.

How To Wash Make-Up Brushes

Women have several brushes that they use to apply different types of make up.  To clean your brushes properly, run them under warm but not hot water. The bristles of some brushes are glued to the handle, so very hot water may loosen the glue and damage your brush. Then apply soap to your hand and swirl the brush on the palm of your hand. It’s best to use soap that is specially designed for cleaning make-up. However, if you don’t have it, you can use antibacterial soap or baby shampoo. Continue swirling the brush around until you don’t see any more make-up coming out of it. You might have to wash your hand and apply a new dose of soap in case the brush is very dirty or you haven’t washed it for a long time. Make sure you don’t scrub too hard but you clean it gently if you don’t want to damage it or distort its shape. When you’re ready, dry it gently with a clean towel and shape it so that it gets it original form. Then let it sit on the towel and air dry. Don’t use a hair dryer, otherwise you might damage your brush.
