Nat Geo Is Wild about Bugs! #Review

February 18, 2014 by Victoria

Do your kids LOVE bugs?

National Geographic Kids Toys and Bugopedia

I recieved this product, free of charge, for purposes of this honest review.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Can I say I was a little skeptical when my son received the Nat Geo Wild Anteater Bug Vac? I couldn’t figure out how it was going to show him anything and be of any fun to him at all!  Once it was opened, and he went to work, my skepticism quickly faded! He uses his anteater vacuum daily and is so excited when he gets to see the creatures he catches. His amusement never ends with this “bug vacuum”.

The bug anteater vacuum is very simple and easy to use. Shaped exactly like a real anteater, it is easy to hold and very lightweight. The button pushed to allow it to “eat the bug” is very easy to push. Similar toys have difficult buttons for the little ones to use and cause them to become frustrated – not with this toy!

The small plastic container, where the bug lands once you have vacuumed it up, allows the child to see a slightly magnified view of the bug. (The excitement in my sons eyes is one I wouldn’t want to miss.) My little one was so amazed at how ants and bugs can look so different up close. Once your finished inspecting the special treasure you found, just open it up, and the bug can go free.

The Nat Geo Wild Anteater Bug Vac is an excellent educational toy that brings bug hunting up to a whole new level!

The Ultimate Bugopedia is a very bright colored, and well demonstrated book. This book contains information and brightly colored pictures of over 400 insects! We are not just talking about your everyday insects either…This book is packed full of information from your everyday earthworm, all the way to the Weevil! Did you know that is a type of Beetle? Or what about the Tarantula Hawk? Do you think that is a type of spider? Nope, it’s actually a huge wasp! This book includes many more wild and crazy insects that even I, as an adult, have never heard about. I actually want to keep reading to learn more! The pictures are so brightly colored the insects almost come alive right out of the book. For my family and my children this was a great find. The Ultimate Bugopedia will teach you all about different kinds of insects from all over the globe.

Boring little bugs are not quite so boring anymore with either of these two great additions to National Geographic Kids!
