Valentine’s Day means different things to different people. Young people, for example, create social events surrounding Valentine’s Day, which aren’t necessarily about being alone with love interests. Instead, groups of kids share the occasion together, engaging in fun activities they all enjoy. While group celebrations don’t disappear with aging, there are times in life when more intimate Valentine’s Day celebrations are in order; where even a third wheel is one too many.
Regardless of how you feel about the holiday, it’s a good excuse to have some fun with those you love; so how about climbing on board one of these Valentine’s good times?
Fine-Dining Restaurants- Make your dinner reservations well ahead of time, as this is one of the busiest days of the year for restaurateurs. Even if your tastes don’t run to exquisite, expensive cuisine, Valentine’s Day presents an opportunity to try something new or explore new restaurants.
Live Music Venues – The power of love is well-documented in music, so why not take in a live act for your Valentine’s celebration? Small or large scale performances present comfortable venues for your tastes and budget, so take advantage of one of the most lively entertainment line-ups of the year.
Parks – Romantic, dimly-lit settings come to mind for Valentine’s Day celebrations, but smoldering venues are not the only options for entertainment on Cupid’s day. Depending on where you are located, parks furnish entertaining daytime destinations, keeping you occupied before the sun goes down.
Parties – Group celebrations are a blast at any age, but particularly for the younger set. Gathering in numbers reduces anxiety for young people new to romance, allowing them to work on their wooing skills in controlled environments. Adults, on the other hand, pull-out all the stops for Valentine’s gatherings, sharing gourmet meals and adult beverages.
Bowling Alleys – Be sure to get tacit approval on this one, before moving Valentine’s Day plans forward. Obviously the appeal extends only to those with at least minor interest in the sport. That said, bowling alleys furnish lively celebrations on Valentine’s Day, extending midnight bowling options and other holiday-themed extravaganzas.
Dance Clubs – Like bowling, dance moves are individual pursuits; but sharing them with loved ones is a blast on Valentine’s Day. Clubs are receptive to Valentine’s partiers, playing matchmaker for singles and giving couples a place to cut loose.
Skating Rinks – Minnesotans and Wisconsinites know the romantic value of ice skating rinks, but similar vibes extend from Valentine’s Day roller skating celebrations. Whether seasoned skaters returning to the floor, or amateurs excited to try something new, Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to strap on some skates.
Theaters – Movie theaters overflow on Valentine’s Day; perhaps accommodating an annual night out, for some couples. But live theater presents another entertainment option, which is a little more exclusive than a trip to the cinema. Plays and other events staged on Valentine’s Day are often cupid-inspired, setting the occasion apart from standard productions.
Mix-and-Match – Relationships are all about compromise, right? Don’t limit Valentine’s Day celebrations to a one-dimensional approach. Weigh-in on the holiday with your partner, plotting a course you’ll both enjoy. In the end, you’ll both feel like the boss, which is the first step toward another year of Valentine’s celebrations.
