No Need for a Repair Specialist – You Can Do It! #DIY

January 20, 2014 by Pam Maynard

lightbulbHave you ever wondered what it could be if you only had the ideal repair specialist, right next to you when needed? In case you are a man – lucky you then you probably have the basic knowledge when it comes to repairing . Well, for  women things are quite different as they are not usually prepared to deal with such kind of unemotional problems and happen to be more or less vulnerable in those situations. In both cases there are far easier solutions when  cleaning and repairing are concerned.

When we talk about cleaning and repairing , of course the list does not include  such sort of things like how-to-change -your -light -bulb-guide  or what is the best way to clean  your bathroom but there are some tips which may occur useful both for men and women.

Paint stain on the clothes.

This is a very popular problem, when a time for painting or repainting of your home begins. Usually when you do all this by yourself you end up  with your clothes damaged by the paint. No more worries – here are some solutions which will help you to remove the stains. It is more difficult to remove the stain once dry, however you have nothing to lose either way. One alternative method is to use a strong tape to clean the paint from your clothes. Different kinds of tapes could be used such as gaffer’s tape or high speed body repair tape. The important thing is to use enoughtape to cover the whole stain and then to peel it off. Another way to get rid of a stain is to find something which will emulsify the paint so the substance which causes the pain will be eventually broken up. You can use your hair spray or a kind of isopropyl alcohol as an emulsifier.

Enough with the cleaning it is time for repairing! Sounds frightening – no longer – here are some explanations which will lead you to solution of very common problems.

 A blown fuse.

This may sound pretty easy for most of the people but the surprising part is that there are many of them which are ready to call for a specialist to fix this kind of problem. We provide you with some tips which may help you to manage in such kind of situation. Firstly you have to identify and test the blown fuse  by using a flashlight or look for an area which is blackened or look broken. If all looks good you can try and see if there is a label put next to each fuse. If there are not you have to to identify the blown fuse on the principle of trial and error. The other fuses must  be removed in order to try the new fuse to test the circuit, then follow if the tester glows or not . Ready ? Let’s turn the lights on !

A broken chair

As everyone has at least one chair at home it may be practical to say a few things about  a broken chair or more specially when the leg of a wooden  chair breaks. The first thing to do is to put the chair upside down in a suitable place. Next you have to remove with an appropriate instrument any other particles that had left – like chips or debris .It is better to use a knife  to  clean all that elements, so that the leg could be prepared for the next step. In order to fix the two parts you need a glue which must be put on both of the two parts. The parts should not be separated so they have to be wrapped with masking tape or something of that kind. Finally you can put some pin nails on the sides where the chair was broken. Then you have to wait and see what will happen – of course if you listen the word of a specialist there will be other recommendations, however these are the basic steps to cope with it by yourself.

These are three basic tips to help you in urgent situations, as it is supposed that if you have clean clothes, lights in the house and a chair to sit you can easily solve many of your everyday  problems.
