#IDSafetySeason FIght Identity Theft with @FellowesInc !

January 4, 2014 by Pam Maynard

The Holiday season can be a dangerous season- especially when we are talking about Identity Theft!  According to Javelin Strategy & Research, there was one incident of ID fraud every three seconds in 2012. The holiday season is an especially dangerous time of year for this crime as consumers are distracted and sharing their confidential information frequently, such as credit card numbers.

ID-Theft5

How many of you used your credit card online or in stores this Christmas?  I know I did.  The real question is what did you do with the receipts and bills that have come in the mail?   Of course, there is most likely Identity Theft right at the source of your purchase, but  did you ever think about how many bills, statements and more have your credit card numbers on them?  I was so excited to get this amazing Fellowes Shredder so we can fight Identity Theft right now!  I plugged it in and put my son to work with my stack of bills (paid already.) My son had the best time shredding old bills and receipts.  He even put multiple pages in it with no problems.

Even though the resulting shreds are too small to read (one page is in 309 particles), we used the shreds in our wood stove.

If you think just putting your bills and receipts in the trash is good enough, please think again.  The thieves that steal your identity don’t care about yucky garbage on your paperwork, they just want those numbers any way they can get them!

About the Fellowes P-12C:

The P-12C is perfect for finance-savvy moms and paper-ridden college students, the P-12C’s slim profile design and innovative technologies make it a great choice for at-home and dorm room use. Features include:

  • SafeSense® technology which automatically disables the shredder when hands touch the paper opening
  • The ability to shred credit cards, paper clips, staples and junk mail for added convenience
  • It’s super easy to use, just plug it in and go!

The P-12C can be purchased at Walmart Stores nationwide and at www.Walmart.com for a suggested retail price of $99.97.
