My Review:
My son and I had the best time making the Shuttle Ride model from this kit! Solar Energy is not a new concept to him as he has grown up with our Solar Panel Back up power system. We also attend the Solar Festival in Vermont each year which teaches us how to harness the power of the sun.
This Shuttle ride was easy to put together. The instructions were easy to follow and the end result was fascinating. In fact, it has become a new favorite pastime- we try to see who can get the best angle with the solar panel and get it going around the fastest.
This kit has 2 more models you can build as well. I’m sure we will be doing those soon. There is great opportunity here to teach your child about solar energy in a fun way. This product would be great for homeschoolers who need that Hands-on type of learning. My son says they actually have a few of these education K’NEX kits in his school.
I highly recommend this K’NEX Investigating Solar Energy Kit! It is rated for grades 5 to 9. For my son, grades 4 through 6 would be more appropriate. I also love the green storage tote the kits come in. Just put the extra pieces and even the models into the tote until next time.
