So your baby is at that transitional age between one and two years when they are ready to get in and out of bed on their own. Now, when my son came home from the NICU when he was a month old, his dad and I were staying with the in-laws while we renovated our tiny, two bedroom home next door. We had the second story of my in-law’s home to ourselves. The second story consisted of two bedrooms, the attic, and a small but full bathroom. We converted the larger room into a sitting room/office area where we watched television and kept the computer, the other room was, of course, our bedroom. So, since space was a factor, we decided to go with a convertible mini crib for baby Cooper to sleep in. This was a great choice for us because as I said earlier, our home that was we were renovating at the time was tiny, but paid for, so I can’t complain. When Cooper was around eighteen months old, he started trying to climb out his crib when he woke up in the morning and after his nap, so we decided it was time to convert his bed into a toddler bed. All we had to do to do this was basically remove the front railing to turn the crib into a small day bed. I still had reservations about my son falling out of the bed during his sleep, so his dad and I began searching online for a rail. We settled on a Kidco convertible crib rail, which also came in mesh. I decided on the wooden rail so it would match the crib, but the mesh is nice, too.

For us, the Kidco convertible crib rail has been great and we only recently removed it just before Cooper’s fourth birthday. The mini crib that is now being used as a toddler bed has also held up quite well but we recently had to replace the mattress. Since we live in a rural region, I pretty much shop online for everything but our groceries and toilet paper, only because I can’t wait on those things to be delivered.
