Six years ago my husband and I purchased a 1920’s cottage (Beneath the Pines) in the small town of Edgecomb, Maine; a town where time seems to stand still. With glimpses of the water, the sound of lobster boats pulling their traps and the scent of sea, we knew we finally found our home.
The seasons changed and winter came. Frozen pipes and power outages became normal. During those long winter nights, we sat by the flickering light and reminisced of summers passed. We burned a lot of candles that winter but longed for the scent of the coast.
