School Supplies You Never Knew You Needed

November 13, 2013 by Pam Maynard

There are many supplies that can be used during the school year to promote a better learning environment, and give students the tools they need to further their learning abilities. Many of these supplies are rarely thought of, and the impact they can have on a students education, focus, and organization is often bigger than most people assume.

Back to School Last Minute Supplies You Never Knew You Needed (2)

Supplies for the Classroom

One of the school supplies for use within a classroom you might not think about, are note flags to use in textbooks, notes, and notebooks. These will help students learn more efficiently by providing quick access to current and important material. MLA style guides are also helpful for many students because they provide a reference point with which to help them write school essays and papers. Have the students learn to make their flag notes in MLA style to get them ready for documenting research projects as they go.

Supplies for Teachers

Other last minute school supplies that you might not have expected teachers to need include easily accessible tiny staplers, student planners, and index cards. Index cards are especially great as they can help organize study materials and information for use outside of the classroom, and can be passed out quickly to whoever needs them. Have student planners on hand so that the teacher calendar can be used to coincide with them as well.

Supplies in a Study Environment

In addition to the index cards, there are other last minute supplies that can be utilized within a study environment. One such school supply is a memory stick. Memory sticks can help students by providing a means to bring their notes and any reading materials with them from their classrooms and into their homes and other study areas, like coffee shops and libraries. One thing that is not often thought about is keeping study areas at home clean and organized. Clutter is a terrible distraction, and can lead to much lower levels of focus for many students. Find office supplies and labels to organize a desk and cords on the desk from places like cabletiesandmore.com.

Making use of all of these things can lead to a much more organized learning experience for all students. They can also help keep kids to stay focused, and help students to receive better grades overall. Don’t underestimate the power of organization in school for keeping kids on the ball. Try these tips to help them get the most out of their education.
