Different researchers have carried out researches to determine the most annoying noises of all the time. In these researches, they gather people, play different sounds and then ask them to name the ones that irritate their ears the most. In this way, they are able to come up with a list of the top ten most annoying and irritating noises. To come to the conclusion that a certain sound is irritating, the brain’s response to the sound is that the brain gets disturbed whenever the sound plays. The most annoying noises therefore are the ones that disturb the brains of many people taken at random.
Different people have different noises that annoy them but there are obviously common annoying noises. Among the top eight most annoying noises of all time are:
1. Fingernails on a blackboard
This is one noise that tends to produce high frequency sounds and hence causing irritation of the ears and brain disturbance. For this reason, many people find this as one of the most disturbing noises of all time.
2. Whining
Whining can distract you from doing anything. In fact if you hear a childish whining, you will leave all you are doing, your mind will drift away from your work and concentrate on the source of the sound. According to studies done, it shows that it is far much better to hear high pitch sound from a saw that to hear a childish whining. It is far much comfortable to concentrate solving mathematics problem in a room with loud music than in a quiet room but with a whining person.
3. Vacuum cleaner
Many people hate the vacuum cleaner; reason, it produces such an annoying noise to the ears. According to many people interviewed about the things that irritate their peace in the house, the vacuum cleaner is the first one. Once the vacuum cleaner is in use, you will find that many people will tend to walk away from the house and go to a place where they won’t hear the noise coming from it. Others even go to an extent of dismantling the vacuum cleaner and never to purchase it again.
4. A screaming woman
Many men, almost all in fact regardless of their age, whether a ten year old boy or a man in his 80s feels really get pissed off by a woman’s scream. According to research done, men find the shrieking noise from women very annoying and they can either walk away or drive shrieking woman away to get peace of mind.
5. Fork on glass
This is another sound that produces very high pith. Due to its high frequency, it causes mind disturbance hence irritating many people.
6. Do you mind if I ask you a question
The sound of this question is very annoying. Reason being someone is asking permission to ask you a question yet they didn’t ask permission for asking the first one.
7. Angle grinder
Although there are people who don’t feel that angle grinder is as annoying as much, there are some who really find it annoying and cannot stand staying near a place it’s in use.
8. Electric drill
This is another source of sound that produces high frequency sound and therefore irritating many.
