The Perfect Car for Mom: What a Growing Family Needs

October 3, 2013 by Pam Maynard

Perfect Car for Mom What a Growing Family Needs

No two families are the same. They each have different needs when it comes to things like what vehicle will be best for them. It is important when looking to purchase a new car that you take your family into consideration. After all, a vehicle that works perfectly for a large family with many kids, might be too much for a family with a single child. It can be difficult to choose a new vehicle that is best for your family with the amount of choices that are available on today’s market. Below are some top vehicle choices for a mom to consider when she has a growing family to drive around.

2013 Toyota Prius C

This is a perfect car for smaller families, especially ones that appreciate good gas mileage. This subcompact car offers an impressive 53 city/36 highway mpg. Blue-tooth connectivity and audio controls on the steering wheel come included with base models. This vehicle is great for safety conscious families because it comes with a total of nine airbags. While it’s a subcompact vehicle, it is surprisingly spacious inside, and fits two passengers in the back very comfortably.

2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid

In a slightly higher price range, you will find the new Ford Fusion Hybrid. Compared to previous versions, this one is a bit more sporty and larger, and is good for a small to mid size family that wants a fashionable ride with great gas mileage. The Fusion offers fuel economy of 47 mpg for both city and highway. This is a twenty percent better fuel economy than the previous model. The cabin comes well furnished with lots of high-tech features for the technology-loving families.

2013 Subaru Impreza

This is a great vehicle for parents that deal with lots of wet weather, because it comes standard with all-wheel drive. It has great handling and superior rear visibility. For its class, it has a great fuel economy and can get up to 27 city and 36 highway miles per gallon. This is a very family-friendly vehicle and comes with features such as an outlet for kids to play their games on long drives.

2013 Honda Civic

Honda Civics are commonly very popular budget cars, and the 2013 Honda Civic is no exception. It has great gas mileage of up to 28 city and 39 highway mpg. It fits a small to medium family very comfortably, and standard features include audio controls located on its steering wheel and a rearview camera.

2013 Ford Fusion

While this car is beautifully made with its sleek lines, and handsome sheet metal, it is also a great car for long rides. It offers a comfortable cabin that can be quite tranquil. Its fuel economy offers 22 city and 34 highway mpg, perfect for a family that is constantly on the move.

2013 Honda CR-V

Even though this is a relatively small crossover, it offers a roomy interior that can be compared to that of larger SUVs. It has a superb fuel economy of 23 city and 31 highway mpg. This crossover has a long list of features that are family-friendly such as a Pandora interface. It also has an available text messaging function.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder

This is the perfect vehicle for a larger family because it holds up to seven passengers comfortably. It has a smooth ride, and gets up to 20 city and 26 highway mpg. According to some Nissan dealers in VA, one of its best family-friendly features is the reclining and sliding second-row seats. It also has many spots for storing toys.

2013 Toyota Sienna

For the ultimate family vehicle, a minivan is a great choice. This minivan can seat up to eight passengers in it. The middle-row seats can recline and slide to accommodate any number of passengers, while the third-row seats can fold down flat into two sections for extra room and storage. For families that face rain and snow often, they will fully appreciate this Toyota Sienna’s available all-wheel drive. It is the only minivan that offers this feature.

Choosing the right vehicle for your family is an important decision. It needs to be reliable and have enough room for everyone. Your family car is much more than a vehicle-it can be a restaurant, pack mule, movie theater, and even a relaxation chamber. It’s best to take time to find the one that best suits your family.
