In today’s fast-paced world of convenience, it can be hard to maintain proper eating habits and stick to a more regimented, organic meal plan. After having kids, I found it hard to decide if I wanted to make all of my baby food at home, knowing exactly what my kids would be eating, or giving them store bought food from major brands.
Organic growth typically refers to the way farmers grow and process their foods. Conventional growth factors in chemicals and antibiotics to help promote and speed the growth process. Both can produce food that is equally healthy, but it is your choice as to how you want to consume foods for yourself and your family.
Natural baby food is good because you know exactly how it is prepared, what is going into it and what your children are eating, especially if you grow and cultivate your own produce. On the other side of the coin, major brands spend millions of dollars each year to create a better, healthier and more sustainable product for children to consume. There are even major brands today that off an entire organic line of foods for baby. I have found that in the end, it was better to give my children a variety of each.
Take, for example, baby cereal or oatmeal. I have chosen to feed my children the store bought and conventionally produced cereals. I do this because I know that babies need all of the vitamins and minerals needed to help maintain their energy levels and developmental growth and the company-produced cereals provide all of that, and in a 100% all-natural option. Babies stomachs are much smaller than ours, but their energy levels can be much greater, thus the need for energy-packed foods. Store purchased brands can offer just as many, if not more, items needed with the essentials needed in our baby food.
You will want to feed your children what you would typically feed yourself. Of course, in the early months of their life, it is important to give your baby all of the essential vitamins, nutrients and food they need to promote positive growth, a healthy immune system and property brain development. It is also important to make your child feel safe and secure and confident in what they are eating. You will go through trial and error of what they will and will not eat, but in the end a mixture of homemade foods, as well as store bought items will ensure a nice variety in their diet.
