Tips For Making The Most Out Of Your Spa Visit

June 14, 2013 by Pam Maynard

Spa still life with candles

When booking a luxurious weekend of relaxation, good food, and fun, a spa resort is a great alternative to many other vacation destinations.  Whether you are planning a trip for a romantic getaway or taking the entire family on a fun-filled excursion, the spa directory at Livelovespa.com will help you find one with all your favorite amenities.  While there are many types of spas to choose from, including medical spas, health spas, and destination spas, vacation spas are an excellent choice to ensure the whole family will enjoy themselves.  Here are just a few tips to keep in mind when booking your vacation to a spa resort.

  1. Consider what you want to gain from your spa getaway.  Some spa guests want to spend their time swimming, hiking, and skiing.  Others prefer to read by the pool and enjoy an occasional spa treatment.  Luckily, there are different types of resort spas to meet the unique needs of each person.   There are spa resorts located in areas where outdoor recreational activities are abundant, and there are those located in urban areas where the spa amenities are limited to indoors.
  2. Most treatments are paid for a la carte, instead of having an all-expenses paid type membership.  If you are interested in getting a multitude of treatments, you may want to consider an all-inclusive destination or health spa.
  3. Classes and treatment options may be limited.  Make sure that the treatments and classes you want are offered at the spa before booking your stay.  This is especially true if you want a one-of-a-kind seaweed body wrap or an expert Yoga class.
  4. Usually, resort spas do not include meals with their pricing.  Keep this in mind when booking your spa vacations.
  5. Are you bringing your children?  Many spa resorts allow children and have kids’ camps available for your child to attend.  This makes resort spas a great option for families.
  6. Book your treatments early.  It is essential to book your spa treatments and classes immediately after making your reservations to ensure that the treatments are available.  If you wait until you reach the resort, all of the reservations may be taken during the course of your stay.  There may be other various spa events offered that you can participate in as well.
  7. Stay for a week to get the best results.  The longer your stay the better.  Of course, once you get there you may never want to come home.  Staying for a week will allow your body and mind to rest and achieve maximum results.
  8. Don’t try to do everything.  Some people may become stressed by trying to schedule all of the treatments and classes during a short time frame.  Choose 3 or 4 things that are most important to you and concentrate on those.
  9. Leave your work at home.  Bringing your laptop, cell phone, and other work projects with you to the spa defeats the purpose of taking a relaxing vacation.  Take the challenge to leave your work and other issues behind for the week while you’re on vacation.
  10. Enjoy.  This is your time to enjoy yourself.  Make sure you spend it doing what makes you happy.  Although stepping out of your comfort zone and testing your limits is healthy, don’t make yourself too uncomfortable.

Visiting a spa resort can be a once in a lifetime experience, or you may choose to make it a regular habit.  Either way, plan your trip out in advance in order to make the most of your relaxing spa vacation.
