Gift Ideas For Your Valentine You’ve Never Thought Of

 Personalized Wall Art

If your lover has a favorite poem, lyric, quote, or even a line from a movie, you can take those important words and transform them into a unique piece of art for their home or office. Simply scrounge around your local Goodwill or thrift shop for an abandoned painting or print (the more colorful the better) and stick on vinyl letters spelling out the quote. Paint the entire canvas white, let it dry, and then peel the letters off. You could even get original with your own special message to your partner.

A Curated Beer Set

Keep your sweetheart’s spirits high (and inhibitions low) this Valentine’s Day by curating a six pack of their favorite local or craft beers. By the bottles individually and then grab an old six pack carrier and jazz it up a bit. You can use paint, magazine paper, or even printed photos of the two of you. If beer isn’t really your lover’s thing you could do something similar with miniature bottles of flavored vodka or soft drinks.

A Low Maintenance Puppy Alternative

It seems like every romantic comedy features a scene where someone surprises their partner with an adorable puppy or kitten. It’s sweet on film, but in real life a pet is a terrible gift idea. Puppies and kittens require a multi year commitment, not to mention a lot of time, effort, and money. Keep the sentiment and ditch the mess by gifting your lover with something a little more low maintenance. An ant farm, a goldfish, or a hand-painted hermit crab is a fun and quirky way to give your sweetie a pet without weighing them down with responsibility.

The Perfect Cup of Joe

Like home brewing, pour over coffee is experiencing a Renaissance. On sites like YouTube you can find hundreds of videos of coffee aficionados explaining their master technique for crafting the perfect cup. In reality pour over canisters are relatively cheap and create an out of this world cup of coffee. Present your gift to your valentine in action by brewing a special cup of their favorite blend for the two of you.

Their Own Piece of The Heavens

Imagine being able to hold your lover in your arms, pointing up to the night sky, and whispering, “There’s your gift”. It’s possible if you pay to dedicate a certain portion of the night sky to the one you love. There are many space centers and programs who offer a star dedication package – usually including a certificate announcing the dedication and a map to help you locate your lover’s little corner of the galaxy from Earth. There are also programs that allow you to purchase real estate on the Moon or other planets, so that your great-great children might have an advantage in the market when we finally colonize Mars.

Customized Relationship Map

Give your lover a one of a kind memento of your relationship by customizing a map with your memories. Mark any road trip destinations, special memories, and hometowns with your handwritten notes on why it’s a special place for the two of you. If travelling isn’t really your thing, grab a map of your city and highlight all the special places you’ve visited together- the restaurant where you had your first date, the movie theater where you watched a spectacularly bad action flick, and that bar where you swore you saw a certain celebrity nursing a beer.

Truth or Dare Jenga

This one is tons of fun and really simple to create. Buy a Jenga game from the local supermarket and lay out the pieces on your coffee table. Then, on the large side of each piece (the side that remains hidden until you slide the piece out) write a “truth” or a “dare”. On Valentine’s Day you can play the game with your lover. You and your partner have to either answer the question or perform the dare written on each piece that you slide out. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to make new memories. Bonus- it can be played more than once and each piece has six faces- meaning you can add more “truths” and “dares” as time goes by.
