Marla enjoys spending time at the cabin, going to concerts and baseball games, playing the piano, and walking her dog, Sadie. As an avid dog lover, she strongly supports helping all animals find loving homes especially those that have been abused and neglected.
Marla is grateful for the loving relationships she has with her family and friends, while focusing on the positive influences in her life and giving back. She finds inspiration in the following quote: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mom’s Big Catch is Marla’s first children’s book, and is inspired by an actual event that took place at Miller Park! Mom’s Big Catch is a book that can be celebrated by baseball fans of all ages. It also conveys a positive message with a warm sense of family!

My Review: (by Pam at Mom Does Reviews)
Mom’s Big Catch is a fun family story based on a real event! Ashley and her family were big baseball fans. They frequently went to the ballpark, complete with sunscreen, hats, buttery popcorn and sweet cotton candy. The one thing that Ashley wanted most was to catch a ball. On this bright, sunny day, the whole family got ready, Ashley’s older sister and baby sister and Mom and Dad. They rode up the escalator, fought their way through the crowds, found their seats and enjoyed the game. Ashley wanted so bad to catch a ball but she was getting hungry for popcorn, licorice or cotton candy. What if a ball came her way and she wasn’t there to catch it? So, her dad and older sister went to get goodies and Ashley stayed with mom and her little sister. Mom carried this special bag covered with baseballs to every game. That bag really came in handy today. A ball came straight towards them, but it was up so high no one caught it. The family has more fun today than any other day at the ball park.
Marla does a wonderful job with this delightful story. The descriptions are so vivid, I could smell the sunscreen. The details all have a very important part in the story. I love how this is a story about family and togetherness. Nothing is more important then family. When we work together, we can accomplish anything. And in the end, sharing is what families do.
Another great part of Mom’s Big Catch is that part of the proceeds from the book go to the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation. Help Save a Dog’s life and Give a dog a home!
I highly recommend this book for children ages 3 to 8. My son read it to his “first grade buddy” who loved it so much they had to read it twice. It’s a great feel good story that will become a favorite in no time.
