4 Money-Saving Christmas Shopping Tips!

December 1, 2012 by Pam Maynard

How to Save Money During the Holidays

The holidays are quickly approaching and this means that we have to start making our lists and checking them twice.  Although the holidays can be a very exciting time for those of us who spend their holidays eating good food and exchanging gifts, the holidays can also be a very stressful time of the year for your finances.

Many people feel pressure during the holidays to buy the best gifts and spend a lot of money on their loved ones, but the truth is that the best gifts are the not the most shiny gifts and the most expensive gifts; the best gifts come from the heart.

Here are 4 tips to help you save money during this holiday season:

Enter contests and giveaways. There are several great blogs (including this one) such as Beautiful Giveaways and Giveaways are Sexy that offer several different free giveaways every week.  Be sure to check out these blogs on a daily basis to enter for your chance to win great gifts for your loved ones.

Never pay full price for anything. It may be very tempting to purchase the perfect gift for your loved ones as soon as you see it, but don’t.  Paying full price for holiday gifts is a waste of money because prices will drop as the holiday season approaches.  If the price of your perfect gift doesn’t drop, then it just wasn’t meant to be.  If you shop around, compare prices and check the weekly flyers for deals, you will most likely find the perfect gift at a great price.

Read product reviews online. If you search giveaway websites and review websites you will most likely be able to find a budget-friendly version of the perfect gift idea.

Don’t buy gifts. Make donations. It is a lot cheaper to make a donation of $50 than it is to buy gifts for 10 different family members.  Making donations to good causes and great charitable organizations is a great way to save money during the holidays. It also helps bring some holiday cheer to those who are less fortunate.

Happy holiday shopping everyone.
