The Christmas Mouse
By Amy Novesky
It’s Christmas Eve and Mouse is the only creature stirring in the house. Room by room, Mouse makes sure everything is right for Santa. He hangs the tinsel, wraps the presents, makes snowflakes until everything is just right. BUT, he forgot his favorite boy! What should he give Bradley for Christmas? Mouse doesn’t think there is a box big enough to wrap love.
After all his preparations, Mouse falls asleep under the Christmas tree. The next morning, Bradley finds the perfect present under the tree- his favorite Mouse!
I love the simplicity of this book. It engages the child as he follows mouse during his Christmas Eve preparations. It also reinforces the nature and vastness of love. Mouse even tells us that love is too big to fit into a box. Children need to learn how to love and be loved!
The Christmas Mouse comes with it’s very own ornament. I love how the cover of the book pushes out to make a Mouse ornament for your tree. And beneath the ornament is still the Christmas mouse looking right back at you! Push the ornament out of the cover. Be sure to decorate the back anyway you like. Tie a pretty ribbon of your favorite color through the hole. Hang it on your tree so you can be reminded about Mouse’s present that was too big to wrap. Mouse wanted to give Bradley love for Christmas, so he gave himself!
The book also comes with a paper wrapper and instructions to make a hat. So much fun! I love it when picture books come with crafts and fun activities.
