Did you eat your Beauty Foods Today?
Guest post by Karen Price
As a stay-at-home mother of two sons and two daughters, I know just how busy and hectic life can be. A typical day for me begins at around 5:30 AM. I’ll wake up and brew a pot of coffee and pack my children’s lunch for school. It’s very important to me that they eat healthy foods. I also want them to perform well academically and so I will prepare my kids a nutritious breakfast that will help them start their days off right. Oatmeal is a staple in my kitchen since it is packed with fiber that will keep my children’s brains fed all morning. Oats are an excellent source of vitamin E, B-Vitamins, potassium and zinc, which enables our brains to function at their peak level. Egg burritos are also very popular in my home and they provide my children with a rich and necessary source of protein. As you can see, I’m fairly picky when it comes to the foods my kids consume.
I’ll typically drop my kids off at school and then run some errands or come home to work, as I currently work as a freelance writer from home. I’ll usually coordinate with other parents in the case that any of my kids have to stay late for extracurricular activities. We’ve had a great carpooling system put in place and it’s helped my family save money. I won’t run through the remainder of my schedule, but the main point is that with four children each and every day is busy and completely packed. My husband works 14-hour shifts, which makes it understandably difficult for him to help out much around the house.
Gone are the days when I could spend 25 minutes on my makeup and another 30 minutes on my hair. However, I do want to share some amazing beauty foods and drinks for moms on-the-go. These foods and drinks will beautify you from the inside out. Read on, curious mommy…
Handful of Almonds
Did you know that you can enjoy a variety of amazing health benefits by eating just a handful of almonds every day? Even busy moms on-the-go can do this much! Almonds can lower cholesterol levels, regulate blood pressure, strengthen the heart and prevent colon cancer. As far as beautification from the inside out is concerned, almonds are an excellent source of vitamin E and antioxidants, which work together to keep the skin smooth and glowing.
Spinach Salad On-The-Go
Spinach is loaded with nutrients and antioxidants and packed with lutein, which helps keep your eyes sparkling. Spinach is also an excellent source of vitamins B, C, and E, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids. Thanks to vitamin K and folate, spinach can do wonders for your skin and leave you with a glowing completion. Have a spinach salad ready to eat during your busy schedule. If you have some more time on your hands, consider making a green spinach smoothie.
Avocados
Avocados are an exceptional beauty food. The fruit is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which will help keep your skin smooth and plump. Eating avocados will help keep your skin hydrated as well, which enhance your appearance.
Green Tea
Green tea boasts powerful antioxidant properties that protect the body from free radicals, which are naturally occurring particles in the body that promote aging. By drinking green tea consistently, you will be able enjoy smooth skin and a glowing complexion that all women crave. Research in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that green tea can also raise one’s metabolic rate and speed up fat oxidation, which results in weight loss.
Water
Even during your busy day you can and should be drinking plenty of water. According to the Institute of Medicine, women require about 11 cups of water on a daily basis and men require about 15 cups. Drinking plenty of water each and every day will help keep your skin clear and glowing. Water also works as a natural appetite suppressant and drinking enough of it will help you lose weight and look and feel your best.
These are phenomenal foods and drinks for moms on-the-go who want to enjoy beautification from the inside out. Give them a try!
