The Mailman
Guest post by C G Powell
I really wanted to do a product review for my guest post, so I picked a service near and dear to my heart. Hopefully I can stay objective while I write this review of the United States Postal Service (USPS).
As a writer and a crafter, I rely heavily on the local postal service. More than once the mail man has pulled up to my box to find it packed full of envelopes and small packages or larger packages hanging off the front of the box in a Walmart bag waiting to be picked up. This system usually runs without a hitch, but on occasion there are issues with my ability to either print the correct postage or attach the customs form, which require the postman to get out of his truck and come to the door. I know in the back of his mind he is thinking “Can’t you just go to the post office like a normal person?” Yes, I suppose I could, I mean it’s only about a mile from my house, so I can’t use distance as an excuse. Then again I have a $3 stamp on a 1 ounce package going to Canada that kind of makes me think he can just shut up and do his job.
I remember a time not so long ago when our mail delivery was kind of random, meaning the mailman didn’t bother to come every day excluding Sundays that is. Then we got a new mailman…He didn’t smile much which was a shame because he was kind of cute. But I was happy just to get my mail on a regular basis, so I overlooked this gross injustice of customer service. Like all good nature photographers, I stalked my prey with a camera until I caught him.
As a whole I give them 5 stars out of 5 because any government program that can operate entirely off its own revenues is rarer than proof of big foot.
