Sichuan is popular for its plentiful dishes and snacks. Taking a trip to Chengdu is very necessary to taste the snacks, or you will get a bit pity.
Everybody going to Chengdu certainly tastes the original hot pot. Except for hot pot, snacks are also worth of having a taste. Here we go:
Slice Pig’s Ear in Chilly Oil: this dish is red in color with delicious, hot and a bit sweet. It is often served as an appetizer at restaurants.
Bean Noodles in Chili Sauce: this dish can date back to Late Qing Dynasty. The jelly-like bean noodles gradually gained reputation for its tender, fresh quality and tasty chili sauce. Now it has come popular as a flavored snack all over Sichuan.
Sour Spicy Tofu: tofu is made from quality soybean. This dish use gourmet powder, vinegar, chili powder and soybean sauce to make the sauce, mixed with oil-fried soybeans, turnip and chopped onions.
Its flavor tastes hot, sour and salty.
Guo Kui: it looks like a kind of sandwich, but with different style of fillings from its western or Muslim counterpart. Any of the restaurant or street peddler may offer you a great variety of Guo Kui filled with vegetables, beef, sliced chicken or steamed pork.
Double-Flavored Pearl Balls: it has the salty flavor or the sweet, nice-shaped, bright color and taste wonderful.
Fuqi Feipian: if you think this course is made from Slices of a Couple’s Lungs, you are totally misleading. Its name was named after a loving couple who invented the delicious snack. The ingredients have no lungs, but beef, ox tongue, beef heart and beef scalp, cut into thin slices with mixed. It smells fragrant and taste good.
Skaokao(Sichuan barbecue): it is often served as food taken late at night. Especially in summer, you can invite several friends to have a Shaokao and drinks. There are skewers of meat, vegetables, bread and seafood sprinkled with chili and grilled on the open coals.
Bang Bang Chicken: it originated in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now, this course is becoming very popular in Sichuan. After cooling cooked chicken, chicken gently with a wooden stick crisp knock, pull into the chicken and add mixing spicy ingredients. After doing these procedures, it taste spicy fresh, tender.
All of the snacks you can buy at Jinli street, Yipintianxia food street, Caotang Gourmet and Entertainment Circle and so on. Once you taste some snacks, these will be some good choice according to the local people.
