Making a jet pack out of Paper towel tubes and plastic milk cartons.
Guest post by Barnaby
To make a Jet Pack you will need the following items:
- 2 very large plastic milk cartons
- Two kitchen towel tubes
- Empty cereal packet or Cardboard
- Sticky tape or glue
- Sharp Scissors – Adults only for the scissory bits please!
- String
- Coloured pens or paint
1) Take the well rinsed large milk cartons (or you can use empty mineral water bottles) and stick them together o that the handles are facing away from each other.
2) Cut out a cereal packet or recycled cardboard to match the shape of the back of the two stuck together milk cartons and stick it to them. This will sit on the child back and give the jet pack more strength.
3) Cut the string into two lengths and tie one from the handle of the milk carton and stick it to the bottom of the same milk carton and then do the same on the other side. This will enable your child to carry the Jetpack around like a rucksack.
4) If you like you can take another milk carton and cut out two long strips of plastic to use instead of string. Make sure the plastic is not too sharp.
5) Take the kitchen towel tubes and stick them to the openings of the milk cartons. You can add a little bit of card; shaped like a flame and stick it in the end.
6) Even more effective is to get a couple more kitchen rolls or toilet rolls and cut them in half and stick them all the way round the main kitchen towel tubes and put a bit of card shaped like a flame in each one.
7) Now you can get your pens or paints out and go crazy colourful all over your zoomy jet pack.
