Great Resource for New Parents- A book about what to do when you can’t ask Mom
I must admit, I couldn’t resist Blythe’s Book just from the title alone. I remember feeling that way when my son would cry for no reason and no one was there to help me. I would call my husband at work and tell him to come home. He always got the baby to stop crying just by laying him on his chest. We called it the “magic belly” because it always got the baby to stop crying. I could have used this fun and practical book filled with instructions for the first time mom! Who would have thought of warming up a receiving blanket before you swaddle your baby or put them in the swing. (my son lived in the swing)
Baby Instructions is not only a book for new parents, it’s a whole support system for new moms. Blythe’s website features tips, product recalls, fun stuff and even information on her radio show. You can even schedule a private consultation. Where was Blythe when I couldn’t get my baby to stop crying? LOL.
One of my favorite chapter is “I love you, but I’m so tired.” Trying to balance your new parenting duties while not ignoring your spouse is so hard. My son is 9 and we still struggle with this. By the time our day is over, we are too tired for each other. You need to make time for your spouse. No one else can make you do it. Well, my mother-in-law always “makes” us go out to dinner and a movie while we are in Florida. That’s usually one of the few times we go somewhere without Justin. Maybe one day we’ll do a weekend getaway! I think I will leave the book open to that chapter so maybe I’ll get some flowers. I like the idea of having food delivered to his work. I’m sure he would appreciate that!
I highly recommend HELP! to new parents, grandparents, foster parents and anyone who will be taking care of a new baby. It’s true you figure it out, but wouldn’t it be easier if you didn’t have to trial things to find out they don’t work?
