5 Father’s Day Gifts for the Dad on the Move
Guest post by Kevin Hagan
The clock is ticking rapidly toward Father’s Day, and all across America sales of “World’s Greatest Dad” mugs are reaching their annual peak. We have nothing against mugs, but a dad who spends a lot of time on the move via trains, planes or automobiles might appreciate something more practical for travel time.
Travel Mug
See, we said we had nothing against mugs. Just stay away from the conventional and give dad one that he can use while driving to work every morning – but have it personalized. Instead of “World’s Greatest Dad” have a family photo imprinted on the side. This is one of those thoughtful gifts that costs little but will be priceless as far as dad is concerned.
Wristwatch
If dad travels a lot to other cities, get him a model that can display multiple time zones. You’d be surprised how difficult it can be to focus at the end of a long day of meetings on the other coast. So here’s a gift that can show dad at a glance that he’s just in time to say good night to the kids. And don’t forget to make sure the watch has an alarm feature too.
Magnetic Chess Set
If dad’s a player, this is a perfect way to not so subtly let the person in the seat next to him on the plane or train that he’d be up for a game.
GPS
Sure it’s an obvious gift for a dad on the move. Chances are he already has a GPS if he drives a lot, but if not, now’s the time to put dad on a route to the 21st century.
Carry-On Bag
You didn’t think we’d ignore something as obvious as luggage, did you? There are literally hundreds of places, online or at the mall, where you can buy dad a carry-on. But here’s the tip: Go online to check airline carry-on size requirements. You can make sure dad never has to check a bag again. Heck, the potential ROI based just on baggage fees saved means this gift will probably pay for itself several times over.
