5 Great Father’s Day Gift Ideas That Your Father Would Love
Guest post by Collin Davis
Growing up as a teen, my views of both sets of parents – Father and mother were grossly different. While I came to associate mom with being sensitive and caring, dad was the exact opposite – a strict disciplinarian and protective. It was a perfect combination for conflicts. Over the years, numerous occasions came up where we didn’t meet eye t0 eye. But with time, I have come to realize that those glaring displays of authority masked a hidden caring soul who had only the best interests of his child at heart. For me, Father’s day is a really special day and I make it a point to make it special for my dad too. It is important that you too honor your loving daddies on this day. I will give you a few days to make it memorable for your dads.
Tip 1 – Give him a handmade card
Is there a better way to profess your love for your father than with a handmade card? A handmade card truly epitomizes your feelings for your dad and would really make him feel special that his child took time out to do something like this. Place it by the bedside so that it is the first thing that he sees on waking up.
Tip 2 – Give him cologne and shirt
Men love cologne and can be a lovely gift on the occasion of Father’s Day. Complement it with a nice shirt and you will see your dad’s chest swelling up with pride.
Tip 3 – Give him Scotch and give him company
Guys and gals, follow this advice at your own risk J Some parents approve, some don’t. If you are comfortable sharing a table and a drink with your dad while , then this can be a very good idea. You could reminiscence about past times and it can also be a great way to bond with your father.
Tip 4 – Give him a gadget
Men and gadgets are inseparable. An electronic gadget such as a mobile phone could be a great gift idea. Does your Dad have a GPS or weather station?
Tip 5 – Give him something that he wouldn’t buy himself
There may be certain things that your father may covet yet never buy himself. For eg. My father loved a certain brand of razor yet he continued using his old razor brand because he felt that the former, despite being smooth and classy, was expensive for his tastes. He loved it when I gave it to him on father’s day.
Do you have your own unique father’s day gifting idea? I would love to hear from you, please do share your thoughts.
