Father’s day gift ideas
Guest post from SealSkinz
With Father’s Day on the way, you may be scratching your head and wondering what to get him.
“Dad, what would you like this Father’s Day?” You’ll ask. “Nothing, seriously, I have everything I need,” he may reply…
So what do you get the man who has everything? Here’s an idea – how about some waterproof clothing? He may have all the DVDs in the world, he may more cigars than you care to think about and more whiskey than you can shake a stick at – but next time he’s out washing the car, cycling to work or heading out on that fishing trip, we bet he doesn’t have the right gear.
So, with that in mind, here’s three simple gift ideas for Father’s Day which will not only keep your old man warm and dry, he’ll think of you each time he puts them on.
Gift idea 1 – The waterproof socks
Your dad’s car is probably his pride and joy. Every weekend he’ll be outside, hose and sponge in hand buffing the wheels, washing the bonnet and polishing the windshield. But using that much water is bound to end in a watery mess if the hose goes haywire! He may not like to admit it, but with water dripping everywhere, your old man’s feet are probably the first to get wet. Buying him a pair of good waterproof socks will not only keep his feet dry, they’re made of a material which keeps them warm too. As such you can be sure that whenever he’s out washing his pride and joy – be it summer or winter – the socks will save his skin (and toes!)
Gift idea 2 – The cycle gloves
If your dad cycles to work each day, you should get him a pair of cycling gloves. When the weather turns bad – particularly in winter – having cold frozen hands is dangerous if you’re a cyclist. You can’t control the cycle as well as you could if your hands are warm and dry, and so a pair of cycle gloves are a must. Plus, when it’s raining, cycling is dangerous and he’ll be more likely to have an accident. If you fall off your bike you put your hands out to help shield your fall – a pair of cycle gloves will help protect your dad’s hands should the unthinkable happen – and if he doesn’t have to pick out gravel from his palms he’ll thank you for it.
Gift idea 3 – The waterproof hat
If your pop loves going on a fishing trip with his friends, you have to get him a waterproof hat. Sitting by the riverside or on a boat in the middle of the ocean, if the heavens open up he will get soaked. Waterproof hats for men all come with a wide brim will stop rain from running into his eyes and down his back, helping to keep him warm and dry. As you lose most of your body heat from your head, having a warm waterproof hat will also help reduce heat loss – especially in the winter. Plus he will really look the part of fisherman extraordinaire!
So there you have it – 3 simple gift ideas for Father’s Day that no dad can go without. They may not be the most exciting gifts, but they’re practical, thoughtful and will make your dad think of you the next time the heavens open.
