Brand Your Business with Pinterest Ebook Review and Giveaway- ends 5/5

April 22, 2012 by Pam Maynard

The Quick and Easy Guide to Branding Your Business and Creating Massive Sales with Pinterest

What is Pinterest?  Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.  People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes.
Why should I use Pinterest? Kim Garst’s ebook is intended to be a guide for using Pinterest to strengthen your business and brand. Over the past few years, businesses have been using social media websites for promoting and boosting their businesses. The same is the case with Pinterest. You might be wondering how a photo sharing website can help your business become a success.  Kim shares with us how Pinterest can make your business, blog or life more organized and successful.

My Review:  Being relatively new to Pinterest, I was delighted to get the chance to review Kim’s book.   The book is laid out logically.  First, Kim tells what Pinterest is and explains the boards.  Once you have an active account, be sure to organize and name your boards.  You can rearrange your boards so the most relevant ones are on the top row.  Try to use keywords that are relevant to your brand.  I set up one of my boards for my active giveaways.   One of the many things I learned was you should have 8 boards with 9 pins each because that is the view people have when they come to your site.
Kim tells us how to get followers, repin, like and use hashtags.  Be sure to add a follow button to your website!
The second section goes into detail about how to use Pinterest for your business.  One important thing to add is a “Pin It” button to your website or blog.  When a visitor clicks on the “Pin it” button, an image from your page along with a link back to your page will be shared on their board.
Businesses can use Pinterest to crate a special deal that is not available to others.  It’s a great way to get repeat traffic to your board!  You can even make a Mini-class with step-by-step photos that relate to your business.  I love that idea.
Of course, if you’re a baker, cake decorator or any type of food industry, people will love your pins.  I think the most re-pinned things are those yummy desserts with those mouth watering pictures.
According to Google, 82% of Pinterest users are female and 70% of them are under the age of 45.  I love this fact since that is my reader demographic.
Overall, Kim’s book is well organized, easy to read and use, and outlines the most important parts of Pinterest.  The only thing I would improve is the quality of the photos.  Most are blurry and hard to read. The written quality of the book is excellent and more than makes up for them! Yes, you can market your business with a photo sharing social website!
Be sure to visit Kim’s Site, follow her on twitter and like her page on facebook.
