The Incredible Shrinking Bully Review and Giveaway- ends 3/31

March 22, 2012 by Pam Maynard

Review by Penny Pincher Jenny:

I am so excited I had the chance to read The Incredible Shrinking Bully by Mona Schmitt!! There is SO much infomration out there to help parents cope with their child being bullied but nothing really to help younger kids cope with bullies!! My daughter had issues with kids in Kindergarten making fun of her glasses for reading. She has always been sensitive to what others think of her, so it was hard to watch her struggle with what the kids said about her. She knew there was nothing wrong with the glasses, but the words still hurt!!

Before I share my review of the book let me share my daughter take on the book. Incredible Shrinking Bully is writing in a style that helped her to understand more why bullies may bully (Some not all) she thought it was so awesome how Frank the bully gets smaller at the end. As we were flipping through pages, she was able to discuss both what she read but saw. She said the pictures were “Awesomely fun!!” Then for the quesionts at the end?? Yeah she already knew all about them from assemblies at school. So sad they have to do it at such an early age!!!!

As a parent I loved that there was a “story” that could ease up a stressful topic to have with your child!!!! The story lines and bullying scenarios were very relating to my child. It made the conversation flow well!! My four year old was in the room and he giggled at the name calling and agreed that it “wasn’t nice” to talk to our school friends like that. Bullying has become such a hard to deal with situation so many books out there for the parents but hardly any for the kids. This book helps to reinforce if they are being bullied it is not okay and to do something about it. One thing we discussed was how important it was to tell the teacher AND mommy. Open communication with a child is a must!!! This book is a great tool in keeping it open!!!

Be sure to check out the authors website here for more products and further information on the book!!

Now for the fun part!!! The giveaway of The Incredible Shrinking Bully!! I have five e-books to giveaway along with goodies with each book!!!! Giveaway is open to residents of the US.

Disclosure: *I was given a free e-book of The Incredible Shrinking Bully to review for this post but all opinions and experiences are my own and of my own child.
