The Review:
My son is a huge Nerf fan! The only other person I know who is a bigger fan is my husband! They say the only difference between a little boy and a big boy is the size of their toys. I’m not sure who like this VORTEX PRAXIS blaster more, my 9 year old or my hubby!
Both of my boys have always like the vortex, disc guns over the dart type Nerf guns. The discs fly better, are easier to find and don’t hurt when they hit each other with them. I too would much rather get hit by a stray disc rather than a dart. We also noticed that our dogs have a harder time picking up the discs. This means our retriever can’t get them in her mouth before my son gets to the stray disc.
The VORTEX PRAXIX is the longest of the blasters and has interchangeable parts. That is one of my 9 year-old’s favorite features. He loves to take things apart and put them back together. His other favorite part is the 10-disc magazine! Ten discs is usually enough to hit dad a few times as he runs by!
Both boys love the pump action blasting! The discs that come out of the PRAXIS have some serious speed behind them! My son created a huge alien named Bob on a large cardboard box top. If he can’t convince dad to play with him, Bob is a great stand-in to practice that pump action blasting accuracy. Those discs fly so fast they dent the cardboard where they hit.
The blaster does have a removable stock. My son thinks the length of the blaster with the stock makes it much harder to shoot accurately. If he needs to have good aim (during battles with Dad especially), he removes the stock so he has better control over it.
Nerf products are always of highest quality. The parts fit together easy, the discs don’t jam, the switches and triggers don’t wear out. If you need disc gun, get Nerf or Nothin’! Mom Does Reviews and the “boys” give this VORTEX PRAXIS blaster 5 out of 5 stars!
Nerf recommends this blaster for ages 8 and up. According to my son, he doesn’t think most 6 year old kids could handle this huge blaster, but he does think a 7 year-old could handle the blaster easily.
