Happy Kid’s Pizza

January 28, 2012 by Pam Maynard

Tips for Making Great Pizzas for Kids

Guest post by Tom

Kids can be such picky eaters that it can be difficult to keep everyone happy at the dinner table. One way that you can square this circle is to give them, do it yourself Pizza’s. They don’t do the cooking but the can create the pizza themselves, making meal times more enjoyable for mom and the kids. Pizza’s that are bought from a shop can be rightly considered not the healthiest, but when you make them yourself, you have complete control of the ingredients.
Things that you need!
•         Pizza crust
•         Pizza sauces
•         Bowls
•         Toppings and trimmings!
Take the Pizza Crusts and slice them each in to 8 slices.  A more effective way of making the most of you pizza dough, is it roll it in to a large Square shape and cook it all at once. Once done cut in to the desired number of slices.   When you are cutting, think about making it more interesting by using a shaped pizza cutter. Anything that makes food more exciting will make kids more likely to enjoy their meals.
Toppings.
Toppings can be placed in little bowels with table spoons in each, so the kids can use the toppings that they like. The great things about picking out these toppings is that you can pick ones that are healthy . Processes pizza’s are often made with low grade toppings. Pizza can be part of a healthy diet.
Italian Sausage needs to be cooked and allowed cool before hand. Pepperoni is always popular with children, these are ready for eating. Sun dried tomatoes, add a dash of colour and have a distinct flavour. These are either going to be loved or hated as Pizza toppings. You’ll want to get some dairy and vegetables in as well, so I recommend that you use slices of Mozzarella Pizza as a topping.  It has a mild flavour and children enjoy the texture. Cheeses like Parmesan are too over-whelming for kids.
Tips for making great Pizza’s for Kids.
  •   Brush the Pizza crust with Olive Oil before you serve them to the table. This oil is naturally healthy and will excite the taste buds.
  •   Make sure that the Kids do not put too much toppings in to their pizza, or else it will all go mushy.
  •  Avoid spicy foods, remember that children’s taste buds are more sensitive that adults.
Enjoy your pizza Kids.
