Care for Creation
Written by Christy Baldwin
Illustrated by Shelly Draven
As a Christian Mom, this book carries a great message that will help our children learn how to respect our home, the Earth. So often we teach our children that God created everything, but we don’t take the time to teach them how to take care of what God created. We teach our children how to take care of their bodies, but teeth brushing, bathing, etc; but we also need to teach them how to take care of the world God created. Each page shows a different way we can respect God’s creation. These important lessons should be taught from toddler age and up. This beautifully illustrated book does just that. It will keep the interest of a 3 year old, but still be perfect for an early reader up to 4th grade. I would highly recommend this book for homeschooling families!
Christy does a great job explaining why we need to take care of our environment. Each page has a Bible verse that reinforces what she writes. My favorite page is protecting the air we breathe. Such as important lesson for all of us to remember. I love the verse Psalms 19:1 (NIV) that accompanies it: “The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the works of His hands.” The illustration with the children riding their bikes brings back great childhood memories.
I love the Interactive Guide at the end of the book. The activities and discussion questions would be great for homeschooling moms. The book website is listed so readers can share their ideas with others. Such a great idea!
This picture book will be enjoyed by children ages 5 to 9 and their parents. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
