"Put Me In The Zoo" Cookie Recipe

- ½ Cup salted butter, softened
- ⅔ Cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 large egg
- 1⅔ cups all purpose flour
- 2 cans Vanilla frosting
- Red, green and blue food coloring
- 3 Decorating bags
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
- Use a hand or stand mixer to beat your butter and sugar together until creamy.
- Mix in your almond extract and egg.
- Now mix in your flour.
- Knead the dough in your hands, add a couple tablespoons of flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Lay down another piece of parchment paper, flour a rolling pin and roll your dough out to about ⅛” thick.
- Use a scalloped circle cookie cutter to cut out about 12 circles and place onto the lined baking pan.
- Bake your cookies for 8 to 10 minutes and let cool.
- Mix 1 container of frosting with yellow food coloring and frost each cookie.
- Divide the next container or frosting into 3 bowls and color each one a different color: red, blue and green.
- Fill 3 decorating bags or sandwich bags with the frosting, cut a small tip off the end and add dots to the yellow cookies.
