In order to make your trip unforgettable, you need to prepare first and read the latest travel health tips so you can explore the world while also protecting yourself. If you are looking for ideas, read on to see a list of countries that made the cut as our favorite international destinations to travel with young kids!
Iceland
Iceland is a beautiful, safe, and family-friendly travel destination with plenty of fun ways to entertain the kids. Dog-sledding is a can’t-miss activity during the winter. You can also hike along the glaciers, visit volcanoes, or go whale watching. Iceland has weather that is sometimes unpredictable, as well as rugged terrain that is often covered in snow. It’s a good idea to get a 4×4 car rental from Lava Car Rental while you are there to make sure you are prepared for anything.
France
Paris is practically bursting with museums and landmarks. Check out famous art at the Louvre, climb the Eiffel Tower, and walk along the Seine. Your kids will love the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, an interactive museum for younger family members. Enjoy iconic architecture at every turn, including Sacre Coeur, the Arc de Triomphe, and the palace at Versaille. There is also a Disneyland in Paris if you can stay long enough to do it all.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a stunning country with so many gorgeous places to visit, you may need to go more than once. Head into the jungle and look for monkeys, macaws, caiman alligators, bullet ants (yes, they’re really that big!), and colorful frogs. You won’t want to miss Arenal, Costa Rica’s most famous volcano. Around the volcano, you can try numerous outdoor activities, including hot springs, rappelling, ziplining, and rafting. Not to mention the endless and unparalleled beaches along both coastlines and the museums in San Jose.
United Kingdom
Not only is England home to Harry Potter, but you can find about a million other magical sights and adventures if you know where to look. Spend some time in London and see Big Ben, London Bridge, and of course, Buckingham Palace. Don’t forget St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Then take a short trip out of town to visit Stonehenge or teach your daughters to love Jane Austen while they’re young with a tour of her house/museum in Hampshire.
Vietnam
Vietnam is family-friendly and teeming with history. The Mekong Delta is a great place to start because you can enjoy a little bit of everything. For example, there are canoe rides that take you right through a Vietnamese village, or you can head to the beach. You can also learn about the Vietnam War at Ho Chi Minh and crawl through the Cu Chi tunnels.
Canada
Canada is massive, so there may be numerous parts of the country you want to visit. Banff National Park is a favorite family-friendly travel destination where you can go hiking, skiing, snowboarding, biking, and paddleboarding. You’ll also find some of the most breathtaking views in the world. Canada is also a great place to see iconic Niagara Falls, the Pacific Rim, Notre Dame Basilica, Old Quebec, and various other gorgeous National Parks.
Spain
If you love museums, cathedrals, castles, beaches, or soccer (ahem, football), then Spain is the perfect vacation spot for your family. It is one of the best European locations to visit because the temperature stays pretty comfortable all year. Alhambra is a beautiful castle fortress surrounded by gardens and is on the south side of Spain. A little to the northwest, you’ll find Seville and its famous cathedral. You can also visit Barcelona and catch a game at Camp Nou Stadium, enjoy the art at Gaudi Park, or see the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia.
