Do you need some beauty in your garden? This Christmas get your children a PYO (paint your own) Stepping Stone. Then once they make a work of art, you can put it in your garden. Since it can be a functional stepping stone, this is a gift that keeps on giving. Your children can enjoy the creative process, and you reap the benefits with works of art throughout the yard!
About PYO Stepping Stones
These PYO stepping stones from MindWare are all-weather and made and ready to paint. You just take them out and decorate them with a dozen vibrant paints. There is even instructions on how to mix colors to create a very personal masterpiece. Once you are done painting your stones, you bake them in the oven for a long lasting finish. Then you can make a beautiful garden pathway or just display the stones in your gardens.
PYO Cuteness
This set of stepping stones from MindWare is beyond cute. My garden will look invigorated after they are all done. We started with the cupcake and unicorn, as they were our two favorites of the set. My daughter made her unicorn so pretty and took such time and care with it. I made the cupcake and the painting process was soothing and calming to me. All six designs are cute, and would make an awesome pathway through any yard. It would be bright, whimsical, and look as if it could lead into a fantasy world. As your children paint the stones, they are learning about colors and gaining hand-eye coordination. Most importantly though, they are being creative!
Once your PYO Stepping Stone is done, you let it dry completely. Then you pop it in the oven for 30 minutes to add a finish that will be weather resistant and long lasting. Let them cool in the oven with the oven off before you remove them. Then take them out and dazzle the neighbors with your beautiful yard art.
Mom’s Thoughts
My daughter and I really love to make things, and to paint. Therefore these PYO Stepping Stones were right up our alley. It took us a few days to paint them because we were being careful, and adding several coats. Then when we saw they were just right, we baked them. I really am so stoked to paint the turtle next, and I think she is going to paint the flower. These cheery stones can brighten up my garden, or even just be put on my back deck among my flowers. You can separate the six stones and give them as Christmas or birthday gifts as well. Then other can enjoy their very own PYO Stepping Stones. Another idea is to paint them and then give them to grandma or an older person as a fun reminder of the kids!
