Once I became a mom I vowed to myself that having kids would not stop me from traveling and exploring the great outdoors. I love taking my kids to the beach, hiking through state parks, and on simple nature walks near our home. As we have added more kids to our family, I’ve suddenly encountered a problem: it’s really hard to haul all the gear I need while still having my hands free to deal with my kids. When I found out about Badger Gear Bottomless Backpacks, my eyes lit up, because someone finally understood my problem and came up with a solution.
When I saw that the Bottomless Backpacks hold two full-sized camping chairs I immediately thought of our trips to the beach. It’s such a fun and cheap way to enjoy the great outdoors. However, I sometimes find myself avoiding it because I just don’t want to deal with juggling towels, beach chairs, beach toys, snacks, and water bottles while carrying my baby and holding my toddler’s hand. At our beach, you park on the side of a busy road and walk down steep stairs to get to the sand and water. You can imagine how harrowing it feels to balance all of those items slung over my shoulder with 3 kids ages 4 and under!
I was so excited for our next trip to the beach just so I could try out my new Bottomless Backpacks to see if it made a difference!
About Badger Gear Bottomless Backpacks
At Badger Gear, we exist to help all “adventurers” get their gear and accessories under control and organized, so that you are free to connect with the important people in your life instead of hassling with gear. As a result, you can be present in the moment while enjoying some of the best times of your life.
The creator of the Bottomless Backpack was struggling to transport everything he needed for his kids’ sporting events as well as for outdoor activities, so he decided to create a solution. The bags hold two full-sized camping chairs which distribute the weight of all the items in the backpack comfortably.
My Thoughts
I can’t say enough good things about this product. It seems like such a simple concept, but so genius at the same time! I really do strive to pack as minimally as possible when we go to the beach, but sometimes you’re just going to be more comfortable with some gear like chairs, blankets and towels, extra hats, and sunscreen. I always felt like the ridiculous people in infomercials trying to juggle the beach chair slung over my back with the kids and our giant bag stuffed with towels and toys.
Our first trip to the beach with this bag was an absolute breeze! I could fit both my daughter’s and my beach chairs in the backpack, along with some rolled up towels. My husband brought the other bag with his own chair, our son’s chair, and some more towels. Our hands were free to help the kids along the side of the busy road and down the stairs. I wasn’t out of breath or dropping things. The backpack felt so light on my back, and the foam padded straps and back didn’t cut into my skin.
The large zippered pocket on the bottom of the bag could easily hold our sunscreen, a book (not that I’ll ever have time to read that), some sand shovels, my kids’ hats, and obviously snacks. The zippered pocket at the top was incredibly convenient for my phone, keys, and sunglasses. You could easily reach those items at a moment’s notice.
I was thrilled to find 2 water bottle pockets on the side of the bag because our family never leaves home without our water bottles! I also found the bag structured enough to easily load and unload the items inside without help.
One very thoughtful feature is that the bags are waterproof and UV resistant. I had no qualms about leaving it out in the harsh sun or having it near ocean water. The Bottomless Bags are meant to encourage outdoor adventure, so it makes sense for them to be protected from the elements.
My oldest daughter also just started soccer, and my husband coaches her. That means I’m on my own to haul the youngest two, my chair, the stroller, and all the essentials to and from the car. I’m so happy to have such a handy bag that I can pack up before we even leave the house so all I have to do is strap it on and put the baby in the stroller when we reach our destination.
Every mom who wants to spend more time outdoors with her kids but feels overwhelmed at the prospect of packing and struggling with multiple bags needs this product! Whether you’re a seasoned hiker and camper or a mom who just wants to take her kids to the beach without suffering a back injury from carrying so many bags, the Badger Gear Bottomless Bag is a must-have.
