Getting the kids interested in doing their school work can definitely be a chore, much less getting them excited about it, right? But what if there was a small online class where they could work on their math skills while playing games and having fun? It’s time to learn about Revolution Math, where they make learning feel like play.
About Revolution Math
My child learns math without even knowing!
Revolution Math is an innovative program designed to help 2nd-5th graders develop their math skills and an overall love of learning. The live, online interface integrates an interactive learning experience with a story-based curriculum and Common Core aligned math games. Students enjoy a small class size of only 4 students, allowing them to build confidence under the instruction of a dedicated teacher.Having the same instructor each week is great.
For 60-minutes each week, students go on an exciting, immersive journey with their squad of friends from the comfort of their own homes. An engaging teacher will guide your child during each class, helping them gain a procedural fluency and conceptual understanding of critical math concepts. Parents can track their child’s progress online and through weekly video updates from our trained teacherDoing it each week with her friends makes it fun.
Developing fundamental math skills at an early age sets the groundwork for academic success and real world applications later in life. No other program allows students to learn in the way they want with the convenience of an online platform. Why Revolution Math?
No other program offers a fun, interactive online experience that allows students to learn with their friends—the way they want! Students are captivated by the story-based curriculum and math games designed to not only build their skills, but help them develop an intrinsic love of learning overall. Plus, the teacher is the same each week, helping to determine an individual child’s progress and areas for improvement which they relay each week to parents in video updates.
My Thoughts:
There’s not a lot more heartbreaking than a child sobbing at the table because they can’t do their homework. You want to help them, even do it for them, but then they don’t end up learning, do they? There are a lot of resources available, especially to parents who truly want to help their children become more confident in their learning ability. Whether you try flash cards, math games, extra problems, or whatever you find that works, it’s wonderful to see their face when they finally get it!
For us, when he thought he was just having fun (think: no pressure) and playing games, he wasn’t so worried about thinking through the problem itself but trying to win. So we’re going to try an online program called Revolution Math. It’s almost like a small group tutor, where he can log in with a teacher via webcam, along with 3 other students, and they get an hour of math lessons while they play games, answer questions, etc. And they can earn points or “gems” to turn in for real world prizes.
The process to sign up was easy, it only took me about 5 minutes from start to finish. By using the code MomDoesRM17 you’ll receive free three 1-hour sessions and a complimentary learning kit. You get to choose what day of the week and which time slot works best for your family’s schedule. Most days showed availability, even on the weekends! And that was it, I had my confirmation email with everything I needed to get started within minutes.
Make sure to check out Revolution Math today, and don’t forget to enter the special code MomDoesRM17 to get your free sessions and learning kit for your student! We will be sure to update this post with our opinions as we go forward.
Update:
We’ve been using Revolution Math now for about three months. My son loves his instructor and I’m thankful it’s the same teacher every week, so he’s comfortable with them and knows what to expect. He looked forward to his weekly lessons every Thursday to the point we stopped in the middle of a 14 hour drive, just to make sure he could attend his weekly class! Here we are, sitting at a national bagel chain restaurant that offers free Wi-Fi and coffee refills so my son could complete his lesson while we were on the road. We found a quiet spot in the corner, logged his tablet onto the network, plugged in his headphones and he took his Revolution Math session!
He has already turned in a portion of his earned gems and received a toy figure from his favorite book & movie series. He’s already got his eye on his next “purchase” and checks his new balance after every class.
I personally liked the feedback I would receive after his class was completed so I could know what he was learning about and any areas where he needed extra help. For example, the teacher had to tell him to slow down and take his time instead of rushing through (because he was excited). He also liked that the lessons were story based and the students play as characters in the adventure tale. Plus, if we had to miss a scheduled class, I could always contact the staff to pick another time slot that would work for the time being (based on availability of course). I’d recommend Revolution Math even more now than I did before.
