Disney/Pixar sent me on an all-expense paid trip as part of the Cars 3 Sonoma Raceway press event in San Francisco. All opinions are 100% my own.
“Puppy Dog Pals”- the newest and cutest Disney show for your littles!
Be careful, this show may give you cuteness overload!
If you love pets as much as my family does, “Puppy Dog Pals” will be your new favorite show. From the opening happy jingle to the cute adventures of the puppy brothers, your kids will laugh along with all the fun characters in this colorful and energetic show.
I was thrilled to see the first 2 episodes on my Disney/Pixar Press trip! It seems silly, but it was one of the shows I was most excited about! No, I don’t have a toddler- but anything that involves puppies gives me warm and happy feelings!

The Interview!
Not only did we giggle with delight while watching the premier episodes, we also were able to interview SEAN COYLE – Executive Producer and DIANE IKEMIYASHIRO- Disney Junior Creative Executive!
I really loved being able to get into their minds and hear how they came up with the story, characters and themes! We even learned that Hissy was orange in the beginning stages of the show. One of the girls at a preschool focus group thought she would be better if she was pink or purple.
Who is the Target Audience for the show?
Sean told us: We’re aiming for two to five years old, as sort of the sweet spot. I’m a parent of two little kids, and I’m very picky with what they watch because it has to be something that I don’t mind spending time with either.
What message is “Puppy Dog Pals” conveying to our little ones?
Sean said: We aimed to tell the best stories possible, create the cutest little characters possible, and really treat these 11-minute shorts as like little 11-minute movies.
Diane’s reply was priceless: At the core of this show, it’s all about the family unit. The two pug puppies they’re brothers, and they love each other. They are very rambunctious, they really, really support each other, and they have different personalities. They have friends all throughout the neighborhood and all around the world. So it’s about family bonds, being friends, making friends and being a good brother.
While “Puppy Dog Pals” isn’t considered an educational show, Sean told us: We’re hopeful that in our stories there’s something inspiring that the kids can learn from, like the interactions between the brothers or when they’re out in the world meeting other characters. So there’s a little bit of education but in an entertaining, storytelling way.
And my favorite part of the interview: Sean said: We hope with this show, the different adventures they go on show them that the world is a fun place. It’s a diverse place. It’s a wonderfully, colorful, amazing place with, you know, all sorts of different things to see.
